Scotty’s Brewhouse ‘Best Butt’ Award: 50 Workers Watch Waitress, Offended By Trophy [Video]

It appears Scotty’s Brewhouse might have some explaining to do. The Scotty’s Brewhouse in Southport, Indiana, gave their employees several awards Monday evening. However, the “Best Butt” award that one waitress won didn’t sit well with the woman. Choosing not to share her name or face in the below video, the woman from Indianapolis became offended when her award from Scotty’s Brewhouse didn’t have much to do with her serving skills.

Instead of getting an award like “Kindest Server” or “Fastest Waitress,” the Scotty’s Brewhouse server got an award for “Best Butt.” The fact that she won that “Best Butt” trophy from Scotty’s Brewhouse management — and was told by managers to turn around and show off her butt in front of about 50 Scotty’s Brewhouse employees — added insult to injury for the server.

After getting her “Best Butt” nod from her Scotty’s Brewhouse bosses, the woman said that people took photos of her butt, as reported by AOL. She doesn’t know where those photos ended up or what people did with the photos they took during the Scotty’s Brewhouse awards ceremony.

Thus far, the Scott Wise Twitter account @brewhouse does not to appear to have responded to the “Best Butt” award controversy as of this writing. Instead, Wise sent a tweet about the Scotty’s Brewhouse in Punta Gorda, Florida, hiring new employees.

On Instagram, Wise posted a photo about the transgender bathroom controversy.

After the “Best Butt” trophy caused offense to the waitress, she noted that she had talked to a lawyer and is thinking of filing a complaint against Scotty’s Brewhouse with the EEOC. The fact that Scotty’s Brewhouse managers handed out a “Best Butt” trophy — instead of keeping it tame with other awards like “Best Bartender” and “Best Server” — could indeed prove the woman has a case for sexism against Scotty’s Brewhouse on her hands.

The unnamed woman still works for Scotty’s Brewhouse, where she has worked for more than one year. It is unknown if she will continue to work for Scotty’s Brewhouse now that her story has gone viral.

With Scotty’s Brewhouse management telling the woman to turn around and show off her butt to about 50 employees of Scotty’s Brewhouse, it is a move being frowned upon by some folks on social media. Others are siding with Scotty’s Brewhouse and telling the woman to “lighten up.” However, the Scotty’s Brewhouse employee took her concerns to the Scotty’s Brewhouse corporate human resources department but was informed by Scotty’s Brewhouse upper-level management that they were not the ones responsible for the “Best Butt” award.

The woman reports that she has not received a mea culpa for the Scotty’s Brewhouse “Best Butt” nod, but with all the media attention on her plight, expect the PR team for Scotty’s Brewhouse to kick in soon and offer some sort of apology to ease the minds of the public.

The Scotty’s Brewhouse worker explained that she felt like she has more to offer than just a “Best Butt.” She explained that she’s a hard-worker who is in school and working two jobs to get her degree.

“I feel like I’m more than just a butt. I feel like I’m smart, I’m going to school. I have two jobs so I can make money and continue to go to school, and then get my degree and not work two jobs anymore.”

Thus far, Scotty’s Brewhouse corporate offices have not responded to the controversy on social media. On the Scotty’s Brewhouse Facebook page, feedback like the following is being posted.

“So, the restaurant says you guys did the ‘Best Butt’ award. You guys say you didn’t. So who are you going to fire, and what are you going to do to both make up for it and deal with all of the employees who took the opportunity to take pictures of the girl’s butt for whatever reason? BTW… ‘Best Butt’ awards and an Instagram full of your family pics. Uber creepy.”
