Who Is Donald Trump’s Wife? Melania Trump Could Be The Next First Lady, But Trump Family Is Kept Out Of The Spotlight

There’s no denying that Hillary Clinton’s spouse and potential first husband is a well-known figure. However, her opponent Donald Trump’s spouse and potential first lady is a much lesser known figure. Trump is always keen to keep his family out of the spotlight of his presidential campaign and that includes his wife, Melania Trump. But who is Donald Trump’s third wife and what kind of first lady would she be?

According to the Express, Donald Trump’s wife, Melania Trump was born in Slovenia in 1970, before moving to Milan to start a modelling career at the age of 18. Between Milan and Paris, Melania Trump had her own incredibly successful modelling career. Melania Trump decided to settle in New York in 1996 before she met Donald Trump. The pair first met at a Fashion Week party in New York in September 1998, and their relationship quickly blossomed from the original meeting.

Donald and Melania attracted a lot of attention towards their lavish wedding in 2005. The wedding was attended by hundreds of high-profile guests, including Hillary Clinton, who was a senator representing New York at the time and now Donald Trump’s Democratic opponent. Just a year later, Melania gave birth to the pair’s son, Barron William Trump. Following the wedding, Melania Trump has remained out of the public eye, instead deciding to support her husband’s political campaigns, whilst bringing up their son. However, she has continued charity work, regularly attending charity events both with her husband and on her own.

Donald Trump is now the Republican presumptive nominee and consistently polling equally to his Democratic counterpart Hillary Clinton. With that in mind, Trump stands a good chance of making it to the White House and if he should, Melania Trump would presumably be his first lady. With that in mind, it’s left many questioning what kind of first lady Melania Trump would be, especially in comparison to Hillary Clinton, who was first lady herself during her husband Bill Clinton’s tenure as president.

According to Romper, Donald Trump’s wife is a lady who respects her privacy. With that in mind, it’s most likely that Melania Trump would largely stay out of the public eye if she became first lady. That’s a testament to Melania’s limited social media presence and how she’s taken a back seat during Donald Trump’s campaign. Melania Trump is clearly someone who isn’t keen to get involved with the politics of a presidential run, which could give us a good idea of her role as a first lady.

In fact, in 1999 when her future husband Donald Trump was running for the nomination of the Reform Party, Melania Trump was asked what kind of first lady she would be. Trump replied by saying “I would be very traditional. Like Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy. I would support him.”

It’s easy to predict that Melania Trump would assume many of the traditional roles expected of a first lady, like hosting White House events, however, she wouldn’t necessarily get involved in political causes like the former first lady and Democratic presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton once did. That being said, Donald Trump has proven to be something of an unpredictable candidate in the 2016 presidential race and with that in mind, his wife could follow suit by demanding a larger role within Trump’s White House.
