The Netflix original series Sense8, especially the first few episodes of Season 1, could only be described as complicated and confusing. Series creator Michael J. Straczynski, however, promised fans that things are about to change in Season 2. Tina Desai, who plays Kala on the show, also revealed that Kala, Wolfgang (Max Remelt), and Rajan’s (Purob Kohli) love story is far from over.
In an interview with Gold Derby, Straczynski explained that Sense8 Season 1 is actually designed to be somewhat confusing because the viewers’ knowledge is limited to only what the sensates know. They have yet to find out what goes on and why these events are happening in the sensates’ lives.
“The audience only knows what the eight characters know, and you the audience find out as they find it out. And so the mystery for a long time is what the hell is going on and why is this happening?”
The question, “Are there other sensates?” would finally be answered in the beginning of Sense8 Season 2. Straczynski shared that viewers would get to see more of their world and an explanation will finally be revealed. He explained that most of the questions fans had in mind in Season 1 would be answered when the Netflix original series returns next fall.
“Once they, in the second season, broaden out to the rest of the world, they find other clusters and people who know what’s going on. Now we begin to find out the mythology behind what it is to be a sensate. Are there others? Where do we come from? Why are they perceived to be a threat? So really the second season is about providing a lot of answers to the questions that viewers had after seeing the first season.”
To tell the story of Sense8 is very important to Michael J. Straczynski, especially during a time when politics and culture seemingly divides us. He said that it was crucial to remind people that, regardless of race, belief, or religion, we are always better working together than apart.
Meanwhile, filming of Sense8 Season 2 is in full swing. As reported by zap2it, the cast was spotted in the annual Sao Paulo Gay Pride Parade. Several fans were able to snap photos of the steamy make out session happening between the eight central characters. Will (Brian J. Smith) and Riley (Tuppence Middleton), as well as Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) and Kala (Tina Desai) made out on top of a float. Interestingly, Wolfgang also ended up kissing Will and Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre).

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Tina Desai revealed that the love triangle among Wolfgang, Kala, and Rajan (Purob Kohli) would be further explored Sense8 Season 2. Apart from the steamy scenes, Desai said that fans should look forward to seeing a different side to her character. She shared that Kala is looking forward to using her scientific knowledge to help the group find Whisper.
“At the end of the season, we learned her contribution to the group is her scientific knowledge, and I was very excited about that — specifically because I get to say a whole lot of words I don’t understand and jam needles into people. Going forward, she’ll only be able to contribute more, because in this season, there’s more of Whisper hunting us while we’re simultaneously trying to hunt him.”
Sense8 Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2017, with a special episode airing this Christmas.
