Wilmer Valderrama Joins The Cast Of ‘NCIS’ After Michael Weatherly Departs Series

Wilmer Valderrama just signed a huge deal to join the cast of the hit show, NCIS. It’s huge because NCIS is one of the highest-rated shows, even going into its 14th season.

NCIS has become so popular that the production has created spin off series including NCIS: New Orleans, and NCIS: LA.

According toE!, Valderrama won’t be a guest star, but instead he’s signed on for a long-running regular role. According to the report, Wilmer will play an NCIS field agent who disappeared “after accepting a deep cover assignment many years ago. In fact, many agents don’t even know that he’s still on the job — or whether he’s even alive. When he resurfaces, he’ll be as dedicated to his job and country as ever, but after his years-long assignment he’ll become an unpredictable, charismatic loose cannon.”

There was a hint that Wilmer Valderrama was about to make a big announcement. Yesterday, Valderrama posted a selfie on Instagram with the caption, “Ooooooohhh We just closed a huge deal.. Stay tuned.”

Valderrama took to Twitter to express his excitement after the announcement dropped:

Fans seem just as excited to see Wilmer on NCIS:

While Wilmer seems to be getting his career back on track, after a series of cancelled TV shows, his personal life took a hit when he broke up with Demi Lovato. The two went out for six years before calling it quits.

According to the Inquisitr, Lovato wanted to settle down with the actor, and was hoping he would propose to her. When she realized he wasn’t going to propose, and wasn’t ready for a huge commitment, Lovato was reportedly heartbroken.

“Demi wanted a ring, but Wilmer wasn’t ready to get married. She didn’t want to wait around anymore, so they decided to part ways,” a source said.

As for Wilmer’s upcoming NCIS role, executive producer Gary Glasberg opened up with a statement about Valderrama’s inclusion in the cast.

“Wilmer Valderrama will be able to flex his dramatic, physical and comedic talents in this classic NCIS role. Fans are going to see him like they’ve never seen him before. This is going to be fun. We’re thrilled he’s coming aboard.”

It’s easy to see why NCIS is looking for fresh blood. The fans of the show just said goodbye to Michael Weatherly, and his character Tony DiNozzo, after an emotional Season 13 finale.

Valderrama has been a famous face on TV for a while. He just wrapped up a killer guest arc on the ABC show Grey’s Anatomy. Prior to that, Valderrama has had a string of disappointments, including short-lived TV series’ Minority Report, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, and Awake. Most know Wilmer for his role as Fez on the hit comedy series That ’70s Show.
