‘General Hospital’ News: Kirsten Storms Set To Return As Maxie After Brief Hiatus [Spoilers]

There is great news out for fans of Kirsten Storms, as reports indicate that the actress is already heading back to General Hospital to reprise her role as Maxie. Her supporters were quite concerned recently when reports detailed that she would be taking a break from the show for a bit. Luckily, the break will apparently be a short one.

As was previously reported by the Inquisitr, Kirsten Storms will be away from General Hospital for a brief amount of time this summer. This is not the first time that the actress has taken a break from playing Maxie, but viewers have been a bit worried about her and were concerned about her in the wake of the news emerging.

After the reports surfaced, Storms shared via Instagram that she was indeed leaving General Hospital for a bit, but she promised that it was just temporary. She noted that she has been struggling with a skin issue that was due to stress, and she explained that the issues were becoming difficult for the crew to manage for filming.

As General Hospital fans know, Kirsten has been going through quite a bit in her off-screen life. She recently confirmed that she and Brandon Barash, who played Johnny Zacchara, were splitting and getting a divorce. The two married in 2013 and have one daughter, Harper. While the actress did not detail the divorce as the source of her stress, viewers have been worried about her for a while and have been hugely supportive of her during this challenging time.

Luckily, it seems that Kirsten is doing better, as Soap Opera Digest reports that she is already preparing to return to General Hospital. Reports detail that Storms will begin filming again quite soon, and she will appear on television screens back in the role of Maxie during the first week of August. She has still been on-air in the role at this point, so it sounds like her hiatus will be a brief one.

Actress Jen Lilley stepped into the role of Maxie the last time that Storms took a break, but a different Days of Our Lives star is taking over this summer. Molly Burnett, who played Melanie on DOOL, will be playing Maxie while Storms is away. Interestingly, it seems that the buzz regarding Kirsten’s break played a part in prompting the news to emerge earlier than intended about Lilley’s upcoming Days of Our Lives departure.

As Daytime Confidential noted, there had briefly been some talk swirling about Lilley taking over as Maxie again, despite her still being with DOOL. The timing doesn’t work out this time around, though, so Burnett was tapped instead.

Viewers know that there is a lot of drama on the way regarding the character of Maxie, so fans are glad to hear that Storms will not be gone for long. Maxie finally knows the truth about how Nathan shot the man who was in bed with Claudette, but there is plenty more chaos on the way on this front. It seems certain that Griffin is that mystery man, but neither Maxie nor Nathan have figured that out yet. In addition, General Hospital spoilers detail that Claudette will be popping up soon, and this is sure to stir things up in Port Charles.

Storms recently posted a photo via her Instagram showing her out having a fun evening with co-star Rebecca Herbst, who plays Elizabeth, and it looked like Kirsten was in great spirits. General Hospital fans hope that Kirsten Storms is doing better and is back in the role that fans have grown to love her in so much in no time.
