Will ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Awaken Elena To Save Damon?

It has been a month now since Damon and Enzo were consumed by the vault monster on The Vampire Diaries Season 7. With the possibility of this season being the last, is it possible that Elena will be used to help save her love?

Kat Graham has announced that it will be her last year, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. It looks like her character, Bonnie, may sacrifice herself to help save Damon, and that could be to bring back Elena knowing that she may be able to save the elder Salvatore brother. Bonnie has to die for Elena to come back, and Julie Plec has already confirmed that Elena will return for the series finale and maybe earlier if The Vampire Diaries continues for longer than expected.

The International Business Times brought up an interesting theory about Enzo if Bonnie does sacrifice herself to bring back Damon. Her death would send him over the edge, considering everything he went through to find a cure for her after they fell in love.

During The Vampire Diaries Season 7, Enzo helped to keep Bonnie off the Armoury’s radar by convincing her to take pills with Rayna’s blood. It turned out the pills were poison for witches, and there was no cure. Rayna agreed to die and pass on her final life to Bonnie to save her, and then Enzo had to work with the others to find a way to stop her from continuing the Huntress’ vampire-killing destiny.

He wouldn’t want her to die now. When he found out his first love had been killed by Damon, Enzo turned off his humanity and threatened to become the big bad, even killing Stefan. It is possible that Bonnie would make him do the same, especially if he hasn’t been saved from the vault monster, which currently has no name!

However, for Graham to leave the show, it makes sense that her character would be killed off. It would give the Vampire Diaries writers a chance to bring Elena back without too many complications for a couple of episodes.

There is the possibility that Bonnie’s love for Enzo saves him from his evil ways because of the vault monster. They could have the discussion that she needs to allow Elena to come back to save Damon.

Carter Matt has another Vampire Diaries Season 8 theory. Plec has only said that Nina Dobrev would return and not specifically Elena. It is possible that Bonnie will remain in the episode until the end and Dobrev will actually reprise her role as Katherine. She was last seen being dragged to what looked like hell. Is it possible that the vault monster was actually something in hell, and that has been released with the gates to hell opened? Maybe Katherine could come back and be the Vampire Diaries Season 8’s big bad.

Very little is known about next season of The Vampire Diaries. Right now, it will definitely come back for the fall 2016 season, unlike its spinoff show The Originals. It will also feature both Salvatore brothers and the main cast from Season 7. All have confirmed they will stick around for another year, with Graham saying this will be her last. It is possible that Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley will leave after this year, forcing the show to end.

No definitive date has been confirmed for the return of The Vampire Diaries Season 8. It will likely be within the first two weeks for October, and will be back to Friday nights. Many fans hope they will see Elena and Damon reunite by the end of The Vampire Diaries, with her saving him at the very end.
