Nazanin Boniadi: Actress Allegedly Recruited To Be Tom Cruise’s Wife Is Brilliant Cancer Researcher

Nazanin Boniadi was a little-known actress recognized mostly as a onetime girlfriend of Tom Cruise until this week, when she was outed as one of the alleged recruits in a Scientology scheme to arrange a wife for Cruise.

But now as more details have emerged about Boniadi it is clear that she is much more than a pretty face.

Vanity Fair published an article about the alleged process to find a wife for Tom Cruise, one run by high-ranking Scientology executives. After an intense search, the process reportedly came up with Nazanin Boniadi, who was then put through a rigorous auditing system by Scientology that required her to divulge intimate details about her love life.

The romance between Tom Cruise and Nazanin Boniadi was short lived, however. She allegedly made remarks that Cruise saw as demeaning to his friend and Scientology leader David Miscavige, and Boniadi was then sent off to a Scientology camp in Florida as punishment.

The Iranian-born Boniadi moved to London as an infant with her parents and was raised there. She later moved to the United States to attend the University of California Irvine, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, The Huffington Post reported.

There she excelled as a student, even winning the Chang Pin-Chun Undergraduate Research Award for molecular research involving cancer treatment and heart transplant rejection, the Persian Mirror reported.

But despite her accomplishments in the classroom, Nazanin Boniadi saw her calling in front of the camera. She broke into the acting world with a recurring role on General Hospital and the short-lived spinoff General Hospital: Night Shift. American audiences most likely know her from her role on the most recent season of How I Met Your Mother, where she played the girlfriend of Neil Patrick Harris’ character for a nine-episode arc.
