Song Ji Hyo Will Make Special Appearance On ‘Entourage’ K-Drama Remake Starring Fellow ‘Running Man’ Castmate Lee Kwang Soo

For almost six years since its debut back in July of 2010, Running Man has been one of the most popular Korean variety shows not just in South Korea, but around the world thanks to the Hallyu Wave.

Some of the more memorable highlights from the show include popular rookie K-pop girl group Twice making their first guest appearance for the name tag game, popular K-pop boy group BTS being the special guests for the show’s 300th episode, the episode when they reunited the cast of People Who Are Searching For Smile with their families, and when Korean netizens picked on both Lee Kwang Soo and Kim Jong Kook during a game that required the cast to communicate with them through SNS.

Throughout that time, it is safe to say that its main cast — Yoo Jae Suk, Gary, Haha, Ji Suk Jin, Kim Jong Kook, Lee Kwang Soo, and Song Ji Hyo — have grown close to each other as friends. They often feature one another in each other’s work, especially through special appearances in K-dramas, music videos, or other variety shows. With that in mind, it was confirmed that Song Ji Hyo will make a special appearance on the upcoming K-drama Entourage, which stars Lee Kwang Soo.

Before jumping into details about Song Ji Hyo’s special appearance on Entourage, it should be noted the K-drama is a remake of the popular American series that originally aired for eight seasons on HBO from 2004 to 2011. It will loosely follow the same plot in which Seo Kang Joon will play Cha Young Bin, the “Vincent Chase” of the show, who is a famous actor. His three friends, Kim Eun Gab, Lee Ho Jin, and Cha Joon, will be played by Cho Jin Woong, Park Jung Min, and Lee Kwang Soo, respectively.

The original Entourage is centered in Hollywood, specifically the television and movie industry. Since the K-drama remake will, as mentioned earlier, loosely follow the original series, it will be centered on the Korean broadcasting industry as a whole. This opens the doors for numerous Hallyu stars to make cameo appearances in the K-drama, similar to Producer since it too was centered on the Korean broadcasting industry, specifically the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS).

One of those Hallyu stars will be Song Ji Hyo. According to Soompi, a drama industry source confirmed on June 14 that Ji Hyo has agreed to make a special cameo appearance in the Entourage K-drama despite her busy schedule. The Entourage K-drama will be pre-recorded before it airs in the Autumn season later this year. This means we might be able to find out which episode Ji Hyo will be featured in before it actually airs. Besides that, there is no other news pertaining to Song Ji Hyo’s special cameo appearance in the Entourage K-drama.

The Entourage K-drama is being produced through tvN and will air on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. KST with a release window sometime in October. Jang Young Woo (I Need Romance 2, I Need Romance 3) will direct while Seo Jae Won (Jungle Fish 2, Family) will write the script. It is unknown how many episodes will be recorded for the K-drama.
