Zayn Malik, Gigi Hadid ‘Working On Being Honest’ With One Another After Split, Source Reports

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid: together forever?

Maybe, but maybe not. According to an unnamed source for People magazine, the relationship between Gigi and Zayn often changes quickly.

“Everything’s good at the moment, but things could change overnight.”

Fans saw that quick change earlier this month when media outlets reported that the 21-year-old supermodel and the 23-year-old British crooner had split. According to the People source, the split came seven months into the relationship after Zayn Malik was caught being untruthful to Gigi Hadid.

“They were fighting all the time and Gigi caught Zayn in a handful of lies and couldn’t take the mystery anymore, so she dumped him,” the People source reported.

But the breakup didn’t last long, either. In fact, Gigi and Zayn seemed to make up just as quickly as they split. Soon after news of their reconciliation broke, the former One Direction singer and the Victoria’s Secret model were spotted walking arm-in-arm and holding hands as they left Gigi Hadid’s New York City apartment.

Like the People magazine source, an unnamed source for Us Weekly echoed the same on-again-off-again sentiment.

“They broke up and got back together almost right away. Right now it’s back on, but it could be off again in an hour. They are young and keep going back and forth. Things are testy between them.”

According to the People report, Zayn and Gigi reunited because the “Pillowtalk” singer “kept incessantly apologizing and wanted another chance.”

In order to make their relationship stronger, Gigi and Zayn are reportedly trying to be more honest with one another as they work on their communication, the People magazine source said.

“They have been working on their communication and being honest with each other and so far things are great,” the People source said. “Zayn is really going to need to continue to prove himself to her. Otherwise, she may not stick around.”

According to reports, Malik and Hadid also struggle at times because their personalities are so different. An Us Weekly source reports that Gigi likes to be seen out and about while Zayn likes to lay low and relax at home.

“He wants to stay home and hang out, but she loves the limelight. She loves attention and he hates it. An introvert and an extrovert; we all saw it coming.”

The report that Zayn is a bit of a homebody should come as no surprise after recent news that the singer is struggling with anxiety. On Saturday, Malik canceled his performance at the Capital Summertime Ball in London due to what Zayn called “the worst anxiety of my career.”

In the past, Malik has admitted to being an introvert when he’s not on the stage, saying that he dislikes public speaking. Prior to leaving One Direction in 2015, Malik pulled out of several shows due to “stress,” and ultimately left the band “to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some time out of the public spotlight.”

In the days since his admission of anxiety appeared on social media, girlfriend Gigi Hadid has stepped forward to support her beau with a statement of her own. In that statement, Gigi ended her letter with a heartfelt message: “Love you and proud of you always,” she wrote.
