Jim Carrey Joins ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Cast

The rumor has been tossed around for months, but now it’s official: Jim Carrey will be joining the cast of Kick-Ass 2.

NME reports that the sequel to the 2010 movie will see Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloe Moretz, and Nicolas Cage step back into their bizarre super hero roles. Carrey, Scrubs actor Donald Faison, and John Leguizamo will be added to the cast for the sequel.

The Jim Carrey casting news was confirmed by director Jeff Wadlow on Twitter.

Wadlow writes:

“6 days till we start shooting… and we officially have our Colonel. Alrighty f’n then! @ChloeGMoretz@MintzPlasse@donald_faison#kickass2”

Wadlow doesn’t mention Carrey by name but who else could he be referring to with “Alrighty then?” (If the reference doesn’t make any sense, see the video below.)

For the moment, however, it seems like Carrey is the actor who shall not be named. When asked about the casting choices for the new movie, co-creator Mark Millar gave a clue about who would be playing the Colonel. Millar said:

“Clue- he lives with 200 raccoons and parrots, owns the mask of Loki and named by Spielberg as a genius.”

Do you think Jim Carrey is a good choice for the role of the Colonel in Kick-Ass 2?

The new movie doesn’t have a release date, but production is about to get underway. Principal photography is set to start this weekend.

Here’s the trailer for the original movie.
