Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly Takes Small Drop In Ratings While Megyn Kelly Slightly Rises

Both Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly have dropped slightly in the ratings over the past week. When averaging ratings on Showbuzz Daily, O’Reilly dropped from 2.9 million viewers a night to 2.81 million. Megyn Kelly, who averaged 2.2 million viewers per night last week, climbed to 2.42 million per night. Both are still doing very well and are easily beating the competition.

One of O’Reilly’s most talked about shows occurred Monday evening as he reviewed the controversy over Trump University.

“No matter what happens in the Trump University civil litigation, it will not likely have major implications for the election.”

O’Reilly added that voters have more important things to consider than the disenchantment of some Trump University students.

“There is a political component to the legal action, as the law firm behind the suit often helps the Democratic Party. The firm has paid Bill and Hillary Clinton a combined $675,000 for speeches since 2009,” O’Reilly angrily continued.

Because of this, Bill O’Reilly believes Trump is correct in being indignant and wanting to defend himself vigorously. However, the Fox News star feels that referring to the judge in this case as just “a Mexican” doesn’t help Trump’s cause. Newt Gingrich, an avid Trump supporter, noted that conservatives would be angry if they referred to Justice Clarence Thomas as “a Black.”

Trump has experienced quite a backlash over the situation on Twitter.

Megyn Kelly began The Kelly File Thursday evening by noting that Donald Trump is losing ground in the general election polls. She also added that Hillary Clinton’s numbers have headed south on honesty and on her emails.

“For the better part of the last two weeks, the Trump campaign has been hounded by questions about the fraud case about his now defunct Trump University and by Mr. Trump’s own comments that the judge has ruled against him because he is of Mexican descent.”

Kelly showed a poll that showed if the election were held today, 42 percent would vote for Clinton and 39 percent would vote for Trump. Just two weeks ago, 42 percent said they would vote for Clinton, but 45 percent polled said they would vote for Trump. Six points is a pretty significant fall in a two-week period, but it’s not disastrous.

“This comes on the same day that President Obama officially put his support behind Hillary Clinton, despite the fact that his administration is investigating her emails and whether she should be criminally charged,” Kelly continued.

Analyst Chris Stirewalt then appeared and said that Trump actually dropped 11 points with Independents, which is certainly problematic. He said that Trump really needs to win back the Independents if he wants to win the election. He said that surviving in the general election is completely different than surviving in the primaries.

According to Vanity Fair, Donald Trump is doing damage control by changing his campaign slogan.

“You know, I have the theme ‘make America great again,’ and I’ve added a couple of things. Right now, I’m adding make America great again—I’m adding ‘for everyone,’ because it’s really going to be for everyone. It’s not going to be for a group of people, it’s going to be for everyone. It’s true,” the article quotes Trump as telling a Richmond, Virginia audience on Friday night.

Some people think Donald Trump’s campaign is doomed, and others feel that it’s just a blip on the meter. Do you think Trump can come back from the backlash regarding his comments towards the judge? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
