‘The Flash’ Season 3: Candice Patton Discusses Iris’ Reaction, New Character For Team Flash, Caitlyn Snow Relative Coming, And Kevin Smith Wants To Work For The Competition?

The Flash Season 2 has ended, and Season 3 is on the way, but this finale was not like the other DCTV shows. Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow ended on their own, but The Flash ended in a way that could and likely will change the entire DCTV Universe. The Flash went against his prior stance, logic, and many other things to save his mother from dying because of the grief he suffered from losing his father. This change has the likelihood to create what DC Comics calls the Flashpoint Pardox arc, as discussed by The Inquisitr prior.

Though Candice Patton’s Iris West was not around when Barry Allen made this decision, Patton feels she knows how Iris would react, Comicbook reports.

“That’s a great question. And it’s interesting because they have a great relationship in which she’s really supportive and loyal to Barry, and I think had he told her, she would have said exactly what she said to him on the patio of their house. Which is that, ‘Whatever you need to do, wherever you need to go, do it. I’ll be here when you get back.’ I think she would’ve said the exact same thing. As long as she knew he was coming back.”

This seems contrary to Candice Patton’s Iris West prior to The Flash Season 2 finale, as she spent much of this past season helping him make decisions in a rational way. Though, Patton’s character did make the proclamation she referred to, in the Season 2 finale.

The Flash Season 3 is a whole summer away, but like Arrow, some teasers have started to leak out for the fans perusal. TV Line’s Mark Ausiello, in his Ask Ausiello column dropped some information to wet The Flash fanbase’s appetite and revealed the description of a new Season 3 character on The Flash.

“I’m seeing nothing firm (yet) on Mirror Master being introduced, but here’s a curious new breakdown to wrap your noodle around: For Season 3, the CW hit is casting the major recurring character of Barry’s slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn’t buy Barry’s nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he’s hiding — all while concealing some secrets of his own.”

The Flash comic book villain Mirror Master is one of many in Barry Allen’s Rogues Gallery that fans have been hoping to see come to the DCTV Universe, so naturally it was asked if he is coming. Though Mirror Master wasn’t confirmed, fans do some information to ponder.

Speaking of new characters, Caitlin Snow is the last, but not least, as far The Flash characters who will be having a relative come on the show. The Flash showrunner Andrew Kreisberg teased that Caitlin Snow’s mother is likely coming in Season 3.

“We haven’t met Caitlin’s mother yet. We got a little talk between the two women, which will probably play out in Season 3.”

Many fans are likely praying that it doesn’t cause The Flash to become “Caitlin and friends,” like many criticize Arrow of now being “Felicity and friends.”

Kevin Smith wrote one of the most popular episodes of The Flash Season 2, and Stephen Amell would love to see him come to Arrow, but Smith has a third show he wants to go to. Hint. It is not a DC Comics-based show.

“I feel very at home in that Flash world, so much so that I’d love to do the others. I even told [Marvel chief creative officer] Joe Quesada – we worked on Daredevil together back in the day, I wrote it, he drew it – I said, ‘Dude, I want to direct Daredevil, man. That’d be wild to be able to do it in real-life – let’s co-direct it, that’d be cool, just like we did the book.”

Smith is popular enough that it is unlikely that fans will be upset, plus, he has written for The Flash, Daredevil, and Arrow before. The Flash fans have a lot to ponder and a fair amount of time to do so.
