Selena Gomez Mourns Longtime Friend Christina Grimmie After Shock Death; Set To Become Face Of Louis Vuitton?

Selena Gomez is in mourning following the death of Christina Grimmie, according to Heavy. The pair were longtime friends, and Selena Gomez has taken the news rather hard.

Christina Grimmie, who was only 22-years-old, was formerly a contestant on The Voice and was unexpectedly shot and killed on Friday, June 10, in Orlando, Florida, following a performance. Grimmie was signing autographs for fans when the gunman, Kevin Loibl, opened fire.

After hearing the news, Selena Gomez took to Twitter to post a photo of herself and her longtime friend and to express her condolences.

Selena Gomez has successfully transitioned herself into a glamorous celebrity from a teen queen after being in showbiz since 2002. The year 2007 made Selena Gomez a household name when she featured in the famed Wizards of Waverly Place. Now, News Australia reports that Selena Gomez will be bringing the best from her Revival album to her newly announced Australian tour.

This will be the first time that the singer will perform in Australia in the cities of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Fans with a spare $499 can purchase a VIP package which will give them the chance to personally meet Selena. The package also includes a chance to have a photograph with Selena Gomez and receive a pre-signed photo card, along with a pair of Selena Gomez sunglasses from the singer’s assorted merchandise.

Selena Gomez’s Australian fans are desperately hoping that this tour will have a more positive outcome than her last Australian tour in February 2014, which was ultimately canceled. At the time, the “Hands to Myself” singer said that the tour was canceled as she wanted to spend time on herself. However, it was later revealed that Selena Gomez had enrolled in a rehabilitation center in Arizona to help her to deal with personal issues, as her relationship with Justin Bieber was going awry at the time.

Incidentally, the singing sensation was also diagnosed with Lupus shortly before, which, coupled with her relationship problems at the time, made it all but impossible for her to carry on with her Australian tour. Selena shared that before her stint at the rehabilitation center, she used to worry about what others were thinking about her, and she always used to strive to meet her fan’s expectations. Ultimately, the rehabilitation center enabled Selena to bounce back by guiding her to think about herself rather than worrying about meeting everyone else’s expectations.

Revival, Selena’s second studio album, highlights the singer’s evolution since her Wizards of Waverley Place days. Rip It Up reports that the album includes sensational hits like “Hands to Myself,” which show a markedly more mature style than her previous work.

Selena Gomez started working on Revival after she was influenced by her Mexican heritage and the works of a variety of artists. The album reflects her journey of self-discovery and her “sexy reinvention” after being the teen-pop sensation for a decade. Additionally, the album also highlights the media scrutiny of her personal life.

Selena Gomez’s transformation from a Disney star to a well-established pop queen and a red carpet favorite wouldn’t have been possible without Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s creative director who was also responsible for featuring Selena on the cover of Vogue‘s Brazil edition. According to MTV, the “Love You Like A Love Song” singer looked stunning as she posed along with Nicolas for two high fashion covers of Vogue Brazil.

Selena’s picture showed her donning a Louis Vuitton outfit, and it was due to nothing short of her superstar status that she was given the opportunity to have a solo shot of herself in a Louis Vuitton jumpsuit. To add to her delight, the picture was shot by none other than the iconic Bruce Weber.

Recently, she donned a Louis Vuitton design at the Met Gala and she was also occupying the coveted first row in the Louis Vuitton fashion show the previous season. These fashion sighting just go to further exacerbate rumors that Selena Gomez is set to become the new face of Louis Vuitton. And Selena’s determination to succeed knows no bounds. Recently, the first round of nominations for the 2016 Teen Choice Awards was announced and Selena Gomez, along with Justin Bieber, received most of the nominations. According to Billboard, the star singers, who were in an on-and-off relationship for around five years, have been nominated in the Choice Artist and Choice Hottie categories respectively.

Selena Gomez was the recipient of the Teen Choice Awards in 2013 and 2014 in the Choice Break-Up Song and Ultimate Choice award categories.
