Samsung Galaxy S7 Active vs Samsung Galaxy S7: Drop Test Proves Which One Is More Durable

Samsung is quite confident when they said that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is the most durable smartphone they have ever made. In this drop test, Samsung’s word is going to be put to the test.

Phonebuff created a standardized drop test to directly compare Galaxy S7 Active and Galaxy S7. The tests were conducted simultaneously, with the two smartphones being dropped from different angles.

The first drop was a back drop, where the smartphones would fall from the same height with the back part to fall first. In this first test, it is already apparent that there are differences in the mass of these two smartphones. Though the Galaxy S7 did bounce quite a bit, the Galaxy S7 Active had a small bounce and it just laid flat.

Upon checking, the back of the Galaxy S7 was totally broken and smeared. Though there were a couple of scratches at the back of the Galaxy S7 Active — the damage was very minimal.

The next test was a bottom drop. As the name implies, the two smartphones were dropped with the bottom part facing the floor. In this round, it was a tie. The smartphones received bruises, but the damage is not significant.

The side drop test showed that the two smartphones did not come out unscathed. However, the structure of the Galaxy S7 Active’s bumpers protected the corners of the smartphone. On the other hand, the corners of the Galaxy S7 also received smears.

The final test comparison for the two is the face drop. With the final test, it was confirmed that the Galaxy S7 Active surely has a different structure than the plain Galaxy S7. The Galaxy S7 Active did not even come with any scratches.

However, the Samsung Galaxy S7 was pitiful in comparison. The screen was completely wrecked and the screen was no longer functioning. It seems like it’s a total loss for the Galaxy S7 for the final round.

With this close comparison test, Samsung holds on to their claim that the Galaxy S7 Active is the most durable smartphone they have so far.

But, the test did not stop there. Since the Galaxy S7 Active won the entire test, they tested out how many times a person can possibly drop the Galaxy S7 Active before it even breaks.

The countdown started piling in. The test even reached 20, and the smartphone is still intact. By 30, they thought it will already give up, but it did not. It was a good as new. The navigation is still there, and the smartphone is still fully functional. When they felt like the test could just go on forever, they stopped at 50. By the 50th test drop, it was decided that the Galaxy S7 Active is as good as they claim it to be. Aside from being water-resistant, it is now Samsung’s most durable smartphone.
