Watch Los Angeles Dodgers Vs. San Francisco Giants Stream Live: 19-Year-Old L.A. Phenom Faces 1st-Place Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers will send 19-year-old top pitching prospect Julio Urias to the mound as they try to take a weekend series from their arch-rivals, the San Francisco Giants, in a Sunday Night Baseball game that will stream live from AT&T Park, with the second-place Dodgers hoping to leave San Francisco one game closer to the first-place Giants than when they arrived on Friday.

The Dodgers trail the Giants by four games in the National League West Division heading into Sunday’s showdown.

Urias, a lefty signed out of Mexico by Los Angeles in 2012, has been considered the top pitching prospect in the organization, and in just four big league starts has received a baptism of fire, facing the Mets in New York in his big league debut, followed by a start against the Chicago Cubs — the team with the best record in baseball — five days later.

Urias lost both of those starts, lasting just 2 2/3 innings in New York and five in Chicago, taking the loss in both games.

On Tuesday Urias made his home debut against the visiting Colorado Rockies, this time making it through only four innings and taking a no-decision. He was scheduled to make his next start on Monday in Arizona, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts moved Urias up by a day in order to get a third lefthander in the series against the Giants.

On Saturday, southpaw Scott Kazmir started for the Dodgers, who ended up losing in 10 innings on a walk-off base hit by Giants All-Star catcher Buster Posey.

On Friday, ace Clayton Kershaw got the start for Los Angeles, striking out 13 with no walks over eight innings as the Dodgers beat the Giants 3-2.

“Julio has had some tough starts in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles,” Roberts said on Saturday. “This is another test. We feel he can handle it. He has command of four pitches, he’s confident and has a mound presence.”

While Urias has struggled in his adjustment to the big leagues, with a 6.94 ERA over his first three starts, Giants veteran righthander Jake Peavy has not fared much better in the 2016 season.

The 35-year-old, 15-year veteran Peavy, now pitching with his fourth Major League team, has posted a 2-6 record with a bloated 6.41 ERA in 12 starts this season, allowing 74 hits in 60 1/3 innings. His WHIP — walk plus hits per inning pitched — is an inflated 1.558, the highest of Peavy’s career.
