NBC Olympics App Rebranded As ‘NBC Sports Live Extra’ App


The 2012 London Olympics are over, but that does not mean the end to the NBC Olympics app for your iOS and Android devices. Instead, the sports friendly network has announced a rebranding of the mobile software which will now be called NBC Sports Live Extra.

Users can download the program for free from the Google Play or iOS App stores or update the Olympic version of the app to receive the new platform.

To take advantage of the program, users will have to use TV Everywhere authentication for access to the apps live streaming events.

Among the best parts of the app is the ability to live stream sports that air on NBC, NBCSports Network, and the Golf Channel. Included live streaming games at this time inlude MLS, NHL, LPGA, PGA Tour, European PGA Tour, and the Ryder Cup.

Not only will NBC Sports Live Extra users be able to watch their favorite teams from their smartphone and tablet devices, they will also be able to take advantage of various highlights, event stats, and various social elements.

When NBC launched the original Olympic app, they called the program a “second screen” viewing aid because of its ability to add new content to the TV viewing experience.

The NBC app was a big hit with Olympic fans, and, given the loyalty to sports teams in the United States, there is a good chance traveling fans who never want to miss their favorite teams play will pick up the NBC Sports Live Extra App en masse.
