Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Other Stars Share Shock And Sorrow At ‘The Voice’ Alum Christina Grimmie’s Death


Celebrities, fans, and family have been left shocked and heartbroken at the death of The Voice alum Christina Grimmie. Killed by a gunman following her Orlando, Florida, performance on Friday night, Christina has become the subject of tributes from those mourning her loss, reported Time.

In 2014, following her success as a YouTube singing star, Grimmie earned third place on The Voice. And her coach, Adam Levine, is among those left horrified and sorrowful after learning about her death.

Also among those paying tribute to Christina is the band Before You Exit, with whom she performed Friday. She was spending time with her fans following the show, giving out autographs, when she was struck by the gunman.

“Words fail to describe how much Christina means to all of us,” wrote the band on Twitter.

“She was always a constant beam of light and energy into the hearts of everyone around her.”

In addition to the tribute from the band, Levine had turned to Instagram after he learned that she was shot.

“I’m sad, shocked and confused. We love you so much Grimmie. We are all praying hard that you can pull through this…this just isn’t fair,” Adam wrote prior to learning that she had passed away.

When Levine then discovered that the contestant that he had coached on The Voice had died, he expressed his emotions on Twitter, noting that both he and his wife were in mourning.

“Behati and I are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by Christina Grimmie’s death. Our hearts go out to her family,” tweeted Adam.

Levine was not the only coach or member of The Voice community to turn to social media to honor and remember Christina. From contestants, to other coaches, to the host of The Voice, Carson Daly, Twitter overflowed with memories and mourning.

The Voice Twitter account expressed its praise for Grimmie, noted People.

“A beautiful soul with an amazing voice,” posted The Voice.

The winner of The Voice for Season 10, Alisan Porter, shared a broken heart emoji, while coach Blake Shelton was eloquent in expressing his shock and anger.

“I’m stunned and disgusted and heartbroken that we lost that sweet little girl… Keeping @TheRealGrimmie family in my heart and mind,” tweeted Shelton.

Among the celebrities turning to social media to share their sorrow were Demi Lovato, Tori Kelly, Colton Haynes, and Rowan Blanchard.

“#RIPChristina,” Lovato wrote. “My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones..”

“So sad right now. My thoughts & prayers go out to Christina Grimmie’s friends/family. What an incredible talent that won’t be forgotten,” tweeted Colton Haynes.

The Voice host Carson Daly discussed Grimmie’s talent and revealed his own heartbreak over her death, calling her “an incredible talent and incredible person,” reported E! News.

Daly was especially impressed by the sweetness of the singer, while describing his shock and sorrow.

“We’re just so saddened by the news of Christina, who is such an incredible talent and incredible person….it’s just, it’s just so sad, so young. And this was a girl—people say this phrase a lot, of you know, ‘So-and-so was a nice person, such a sweet person’—but Christina really was.”

Carson admitted that he was so impressed by her special talent that he was “shocked” she did not take home the top prize during the season in which she was competed.

“You would never forget meeting her,” he added. “I’m shocked she didn’t actually win season six.”

In addition to Twitter, Instagram also was filled with memories of The Voice contestant, noted USA Today.

Jake Worthington was a Season 6 finalist with Grimmie. He shared his shock while praising her “wonderful soul.”

Another contestant on The Voice, T.J. Wilkins, revealed that he and Christina had even discussed collaborating before her death. Now he is among those left stunned by the loss.
