Kate Middleton Shares About Her Love For Sports And Why They Are So Important To Youth

Not only did Kate Middleton stun her audience once again when appearing and speaking with ambassadors and young athletes at the SportsAid’s 40th Anniversary Dinner recently, while wearing a form-fitting and figure-flattering gorgeous blue dress, but she also reminded her captive audience of her love for sports. E! shares the Duchess’ words on the topic.

“Some of you may know that I love sport,” she began. “I love cheering on teams and athletes that I am passionate about. I love the physical challenge sport presents and the mental strength it gives us all. And I love the way it so often brings people together to work as part of a team.”

Middleton has been no stranger to keeping an active lifestyle. Kate has been front and center at appearances where she has participated happily in rock-climbing, sailing, archery, and playing a game or two of croquet. While on tour in Bhutan she tried her hand at cricket. The Duchess of Cambridge is also an avid watcher of an array of sports such as tennis and polo.

Kate Middleton continued to share how sport acts as point of inspiration and motivation to keep active.

“The brilliance of SportsAid is in really understanding just how much athletic competition gives to our country as a whole. By investing in young sporting talent, they ensure that there is a strong pipeline of inspirational heroes. These athletes then serve as motivators to everyone in the UK to get involved, get active, and embrace the power of sport to make us happier and healthier.”

Kate then shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming summer Olympics in Brazil, at which she and her husband, Prince William, will make an appearance.

“With little over 50 days to go until the Games begin in Rio, the next Olympiad is almost here,” she said. “As we did in London in 2012, we will see a new generation of sporting stars emerge into the spotlight…We cannot wait to meet the next SportsAid champions.”

In additional royal news, the family has been doing some celebrating for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday. It was not only a big day for the Queen but also for Princess Charlotte, the youngest of Will and Kate’s two children. Charlotte made her big balcony debut and the whole family stepped out in celebration of the monarch, as Forbes shares.

“For her royal debut on the Buckingham Palace balcony, Princess Charlotte, the younger of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children, became the star at the most emblematic of the ceremonies to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday, Trooping the Colour – a centuries-old tradition that features a parade with more than 1,600 soldiers, 300 horses and 400 musicians as crowds line the streets waving flags and an Air Force fly-by salutes the royal family below.”

Once again, Kate Middleton had all eyes on her, regardless of it being Queen Elizabeth’s big day. Kate recycled a gorgeous Alexander McQueen coat that she had worn at Princess Charlotte’s christening. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge smiled and saluted while caring for their adorable children. making it difficult for royal watchers to focus on the Queen. The publication shares about the Queen’s bold look and the importance of the event.

“The queen, in a vibrant neon-green dress by Stewart Parvin and matching hat decorated with intense red color flowers by Rachel Trevor, stood out among the other neutral-colors-clad royals. Her admired diamond Brigade of Guards brooch combined the badges of the five royal house regiments.”
