Nick Jonas Talks About Demi Lovato And The Influence Of Prince

Nick Jonas disclosed to Rolling Stone that he and Demi Lovato are entering a new phase in their lives. However, it has nothing to do with love. Nick Jonas was reacting to rumors that he had a part to play in the breakup between Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama.

After six years of togetherness, Lovato and Valderrama amicably ended their relationship recently by making a joint statement, according to an Inquisitr story.

In the public eye, Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato are the best of friends, and they have been for what seems to be a very long time since being in the Disney class with Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus. Nick would clarify further the real score between him and Demi by saying that they are moving from friendship to business partners.

“Jonas and Lovato are co-owners of Safehouse Records, a subsidiary of Island,” reports Rolling Stone.

In turn, Nick Jonas says the following.

“It just makes sense to do this together. To build our careers at the same time.”

In fact, the album that Nick Jonas launches today, June 10, has been produced by Island and Safehouse Records. Titled Last Year Was Complicated, the album was inspired by the “Chains” singer’s breakup with beauty queen Olivia Culpo. If so, Nick makes no mention of any Taylor Swift influence whatsoever.

As a lot of people are aware, Swift is known for composing music about her relationships and other poignant life experiences. While she is widely criticized for doing so, composing songs based on real-life experiences can be a psychologically cathartic if not therapeutic activity. According to psychoanalysts, doing this often helps a person move from the denial phase to the reality phase. If so, the individual’s recovery from, say, a breakup becomes a lot easier.

However, there has been no confirmation on the side of Nick Jonas if this has been the case for him, but he has recently gone through a series of life-changing experiences other than his breakup with Olivia Culpo. Just one of these is breaking away from the Jonas Brothers, with whom he has been identified since he started his singing career.

But as the saying goes, blood is thicker than water. Nick’s father just decided to open a restaurant business, and the singer has been quick to reunite with his brothers in order to help the family get the business off to a good start.

Nick Jonas also talked to Rolling Stone about how much the late Prince means to him.

Nick Jonas tells the source how “he played with members of the late star’s New Power Generation when he was a teenager.” Nick is now 23-years-old, and apparently the experience of working with Prince’s band encouraged him to move more towards the soul and R&B music genres.

“Hearing their stories about what an incredible performer and creative person [Prince] was, was so inspiring,” said Jonas.

Last Year Was Complicated is Nick Jonas’ third solo album. He released the album’s lead single, “Close,” on March 25. This was followed by “Champagne Problems” on April 8, “Chainsaw” on May 13, and “Bacon” on June 3. Meanwhile, “Don’t Make Me Choose” and “Under You” were performed on several dates of the Nick Jonas: Live in Concert tour.

Nick Jonas will be joining Demi Lovato soon to promote his album on the Future Now tour, according to Billboard.

Making the album was not a pleasant experience, recounts Jonas.

“When I first started making I thought I knew what it would be about… Then I had a breakup. It then became very clear what this thing would be about… And that I would need to dig really deep… Reliving some of these real life experiences through this music is hard.”
