‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Actress Dakota Johnson, Matthew Hitt Split Because Of Jamie Dornan?
Fifty Shades Darker actress Dakota Johnson and boyfriend Matthew Hitt reportedly called it quits after dating each other for around two years. Johnson is currently busy in shooting the sequel of Fifty Shades of Grey in Vancouver, Canada, and their work schedule, along with Dakota’s closeness with her co-star Jamie Dornan, has caused the breakup.
According to Just Jared, Dakota broke up with Matthew due to their busy work commitments. She has been shooting in Vancouver over the past couple of months, and Matthew is the guitarist and the vocalist for the indie group the Drowners. According to insiders, their schedule has badly affected their relationship.
“They didn’t get a chance to see much of each other recently because their work schedules didn’t align. She’s been up in Vancouver shooting the Fifty Shades trilogy.”

Dakota, 26, has dated Matthew on and off for close to two years. The couple confirmed in July 2014 that they are in a serious relationship and everything seemed working well among them until they reportedly broke up last year, shortly after the release of the erotic thriller. A source told Us Weekly that Matthew was not comfortable with Dakota’s character in the adaptation of E.L. James’ novel.
“Her life was getting too crazy and it wasn’t something that he wanted to be a part of.”
A few months after their split, the couple were again spotted together in New York, and by their PDA, they confirmed that they are back together.
An article from Movie News Guide suggests that the endless rumors swirling Dakota and Jamie are the main reason behind the couple’s split. There have been several reports that the chemistry of stars extended beyond the sets of Fifty Shades film series.
Australia News Network reported that ever since Dakota and Jamie started filming the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, reports started to surface online that they are willing to go in-depth to improve their onscreen chemistry and are even willing to spend some intimate moments with each other.
“Despite the fact that they only share some intimate moments because it is needed in the movie, hearsay continue that they are secretly having an affair.”
The How To Be Single actress previously stated that she sometimes forgets that she is dating Matthew while filming. According to the Mirror, the star confessed that at this moment, she has no time for any relationships.
“I don’t have a lot of time for a relationship. I’m too bustling sanctimonious and afterwards we go home and there’s no one.”
Whether Dakota’s split is because of Jamie or her role in Fifty Shades Darker, the actress admitted in her interview with Ellen DeGeneres that her portrayal of Anastasia Steele made some men uncomfortable being around her.
“You mean, like when they run away from me? I don’t know… I guess that if those are the two options, I guess they’re scared of me. They either love me or they’re running for the hills.”
There have been several rumors that she is having an affair with her co-star Rita Ora. The speculations were fuelled by their photos uploaded to the movie’s official Instagram account. The uploaded pictures showed how the two stars are having a nice time at the shooting locations.
Fans of Dakota will only wish the best of her, and if the actress wants to dedicate her hours to her career, then it is indeed a great choice. Meanwhile, if one looks at her on-and-off affair with Matthew, then it won’t come as a surprise to fans and media that the couple will be spotted together again after the production of Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.
