Bobby Brown Says Whitney Houston Had Secret Lesbian Relationship With Former Assistant Robyn Crawford

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown had a tumultuous 14 year marriage. During that time, they kept each other’s secrets, but now Bobby is ready to tell the world one of Whitney’s.

US Weekly reports that the “My Prerogative” singer recently confirmed a rumor that has been dogging Whitney Houston’s legacy for years. Whitney Houston had a same-sex relationship with her former assistant, Robyn Crawford, Brown claims.

“I know,” Brown, 47, told US Weekly about his ex-wife’s relationship with Crawford, 55. “We were married for 14 years. There are some things we talked about that were personal to us.”

As US Weekly notes, Houston and Crawford became friends when they were both teens working at a community center in East Orange, New Jersey. Crawford later worked as Whitney’s creative director and became a fixture in her entourage when the Bodyguard star was at the height of her fame.

Bobby Brown talks about Whitney’s alleged lesbian relationship with Crawford in his new book, Every Little Step. In the book, Bobby maintains that he thinks Whitney was bisexual.

“I’m a man and she was attracted to me!” he said in his interview with US Weekly.

Whitney Houston was known to routinely deny claims that she was gay or bisexual while she was alive. Brown said that he believes those denials stemmed from the fact that her family frowned upon same-sex relationships. Bobby even said that, at one point, Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, demanded that Whitney fire Robyn Crawford.

According to US Weekly, Cissy Houston told Oprah in 2013 that it would have upset her to find out that her daughter was in a same-sex relationship.

“I really feel that if Robyn was accepted into Whitney’s life, Whitney would still be alive today,” Brown says. “She didn’t have close friends with her anymore.”

But Bobby isn’t just spilling Whitney’s secrets. He’s telling the world some of his, too. People Magazine reports that the former New Edition lead singer has confessed that he hit Whitney Houston during their marriage.

Bobby made the confession during a 20/20 interview with Robin Roberts.

In it, Brown says that he’s not a violent man but that he hit Whitney Houston once when he was “trying to maintain his sobriety.”

Despite that incident, Bobby Brown claims that the rumors that he is a wife beater are untrue.

“I’ve never been a violent man toward a woman ever,” Brown said.

Brown also admitted that he and Whitney Houston were heavily addicted to drugs during their marriage. He said they would lock themselves in one wing of their mansion and get high while nannies took care of their daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

“I always made it a point to not let her see me or my wife in that type of situation,” he said. “It’s hard when you’re doing it everyday, it’s really hard.”

Brown said that the constant drug use made their lives incredibly difficult.

“The last few years of our marriage it was terrible,” he explained. “Both of us trying to be clean, or one of us trying to be clean… it was terrible.”

Brown also admitted the he and Houston should have done more to ensure that Bobbi Kristina stayed away from drugs.

“We could have been better. We should have been better.”

Despite rumors to the contrary, Brown insists that he was not the one who introduced Whitney to hard drugs.

“It wasn’t me who started her,” Brown said. “I take my part and I take it hard for me even being a part of it, but we all have our own minds and some of us are stronger than others.”

He says he also regrets not being able to save his daughter from her tragic fate.

“The two days before what happened to my daughter, she was to come out here to Los Angeles to me,” Brown said, fighting back tears. “If I could get those two days back… my daughter would be here. All I want is those two days back.”
