Josh Brolin's Thanos has been looming ominously over the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the past few years. He had his most notable screen time as part of the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy. He sat upon a stone throne far out in space. But comic book fans know that he seeks the Infinity Stones for ultimate power. And he has not been able to collect all of them in the Marvel movies so far. If Infinity War follows any of the Infinity Stone related storylines in comics like Infinity War or Secret Wars, it is only a matter of time before a very large showdown occurs.
If you want to wait for the next Avengers movie without a single detail being revealed, you may want to skip this article until later. If you don't mind the latest speculation on the movie, please read on.
Josh Brolin spoke about his reaction to hearing the Avengers: Infinity War storyline to MovieFone.
"It all comes down... these stories... these Avengers stories all come down to this conclusion, and that's our involvement. Basically, my character against everybody. And it's really fun what they've chosen to do with the story. I think it's brilliant, personally. I was blown away, and had goose pimples pretty much 50% of the time that I was listening to what was going on, and pretty amazed that I'm going to be involved in it. So it's a big thing that's coming up."Apparently, Josh Brolin is amazed at the script for the next Avengers movie. The supposed title Avengers: Infinity War is still in question. The next few Marvel movies will likely set up the ultimate space showdown. Thor: Ragnarok is rumored to contain elements of Planet Hulk from comics, where Hulk was shot off into space. Thor is already at home up there. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 could involve even bigger Thanos scenes than the previous Guardians movie and set up the major conflict that might involve both the Guardians and the Avengers facing a common enemy.
Josh Brolin Can't Go Anywhere Without Someone Talking About Thanos https://t.co/FDpgzM9JNR pic.twitter.com/e94VUfIwNXEven before those films, Josh Brolin's Thanos would need to encounter an adversary on par with his tremendous power. That is where the Doctor Strange movie coming at the end of the year comes in. He is one of Marvel's most powerful superheroes and could definitely provide the needed defense against an attack by Thanos. Marvel would need some other superheroes who are accustomed to fighting with magic as well. Captain Marvel could make her first appearance fighting Thanos before her scheduled solo movie. Marvel will have to take all of its most powerful heroes and place them front and center.

As IGN reports, Marvel screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely say they will finally give Thanos a chance to tell his own story. They will flesh him out and put him in the same position that they have placed the main villains of previous Marvel movies. Looks like he will finally step down off of his throne and enter the battle in the way Marvel has been building him up to do since his first appearance at the end of The Avengers, though that wasn't Josh Brolin's Thanos. It didn't matter much since it was a very quick glimpse of what Marvel had planned.
Josh Brolin Realizes How Important He Is To The Marvel Cinematic Universe https://t.co/UUnEJRNSGw #Thanos #MCU pic.twitter.com/S1QHvloYHfIn the battle against Thanos, despite what has happened in the comic books, the team won't split. The screenwriters will try their best to balance all the characters between the two upcoming Avengers movies so that each gets his share of dialogue and screen time. In comics, stories involving Thanos usually involve a tremendous amount of heroes who show up to take him down. Things would get too complicated with that same approach for the general cinema. The audience would also expect the already established characters to lead the charge and play significant roles. There should be enough actors here to give Josh Brolin's Thanos a significant challenge.
