‘Alaskan Bush People’: Locals Report Matt Brown In Rehab Following Erratic Behavior

Amidst allegations of fake storylines and other scandals, the Alaskan Bush People family is experiencing yet another struggle. This one has to do with son Matt Brown and his rumored drug and alcohol issues. Radar Online is reporting that the 33-year-old has entered a rehab program, according to multiple local sources in Hoonah, Alaska.

Back in December, the Examiner reported that in 2013, the eldest son in the Alaskan Bush People clan was arrested on two charges: driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. He reportedly was drinking at a bar in Juneau when he got hungry around 4:30 a.m. The Alaskan Bush People son headed to Walmart to buy some chips. While behind the steering wheel of a gray 1986 Volvo, Matt hit a Kawasaki motorcycle that as parked in the store parking lot and fled the scene. Two Walmart employees, one an assistant manager, witnessed the accident.

A police officer brought Matt Brown of Alaskan Bush People back to the parking lot minutes later. The officer describes Brown as “nervous, jumpy, and talked real fast,” which Brown attributed to his attention deficit disorder. At the time, the eldest son of the Alaskan Bush People family denied hitting the motorcycle. He told police that he had hooked up with a girl who had been hitting on him at the bar and that she had bought him a shot of vodka. Later, he admitted to drinking two or three shots instead of just one. The Alaskan Bush People star was not able to confidently provide the girl’s name, phone number, or location, although he did state that the car he was driving belonged to her.

The Alaskan Bush People son performed poorly on all of the field sobriety tests. It took three tries for police to perform a successful breathalyzer test, which came back with a blood alcohol level of 0.150. Alaskan Bush People patriarch Billy Brown bailed him out by paying a $250 fine. Matt later received a three-day jail sentence and 18 months of probation.

Radar Online’s sources indicate that the Alaskan Bush People family member has been behaving erratically in recent months. As recently reported by the Inquisitr, Hoonah, Alaska, locals have also revealed that the Browns actually live in a hotel called Icy Strait Lodge much of the time, despite what is claimed in Alaskan Bush People promotions about them living in the wilderness. The locals also report that Matt spends much of his time in the hotel bar and is quite a flirt.

Neighbors of the Alaskan Bush People report that each of the boys have their own hotel rooms. They say that Matt lived with some crew members at another hotel, Misty Bay Lodge, for a while but is now back at the Icy Strait Lodge. They claim that the Browns live in the wilderness only to film Alaskan Bush People. The rest of the time, they live at the Icy Strait Lodge.

The Alaskan Bush People family includes parents Billy and Ami Brown and their seven children — Matt, Joshua, Rain, Noah, Gabe, Bear, and Snowbird. On the Discovery Channel website, they describe the Alaskan Bush People family as living “so far removed from civilization that they often go six to nine months of the year without seeing an outsider.” This and other claims have been questioned lately, as rumors of the Alaskan Bush People family living in a hotel and reports that the series may have been faked have emerged.
