Meryl Streep Impersonates Donald Trump, See Why Everyone Is Talking

Meryl Streep is making headlines for her latest Oscar-worthy performance, but this time, she wasn’t the star of any movie. This performance was actually a theatrical performance that fans will probably be ranting and raving about for quite some time.

According to Billboard, Meryl Streep recently impersonated Donald Trump! With a spray-tanned face, an orange wig with that signature Donald Trump look, and padded suit, Meryl Streep nailed the look of the Republican presidential hopeful.

However, many are wondering why Meryl Streep would choose to portray Donald Trump. According to the Blaze, the performance was part of the annual Shakespeare in the Park Public Theater Gala that took place in New York on Monday, June 6. Meryl Streep shared the stage with Christina Baranski, who portrayed Hillary Clinton, as they sang a special rendition of “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” from the Kiss Me, Kate musical by Cole Porter.

The comical performance seemed to have the undivided attention of the audience, because they responded in laughter as Meryl Streep got into character by throwing her hands up, imitating Donald Trump.

“You’ll let me know why it is all the women say no,” sang Streep.

Baranski replied, “Just declaim a few lines from Othello, and they’ll think you’re a hell of a fellow.”

Although Meryl Streep impersonated Donald Trump, it doesn’t look like she’s supporting the Republican front-runner in the election. For quite some time, Meryl Streep has been a supporter of Hillary Clinton. Back in 2012, Meryl Streep actually did a tribute to Hillary Clinton at the Women in the World.

“If you want a real world leader, and you’re really, really lucky, this is what you get,” she remarked.

The Democratic presidential nominee has also spoken highly of Meryl in the past. She’s suggested Meryl Streep play her in a movie if there is ever a biopic created about her life.

When Meryl Streep portrayed Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady back in 2012, she was surprised to learn Thatcher had a more liberal perspective of homosexuality, health care, and abortion than she expected.

During a previous interview with the Huffington Post, she shared her opinion of Thatcher’s views, according to Politico.

“I was very surprised that she didn’t try to dismantle the national health … that she was pro-choice. I went to Washington recently and spoke to somebody who was in the room when she took Dan Quayle and President Bush down for using [pro-choice] as a political football. She had people… in her staff who had big homosexual scandals,” Streep said, adding that Thatcher would be “drummed out of the American conservative party. There would be no question.”

She also had choice words for those who consider themselves conservative Americans.

“I’ve heard people in government lament the cameras everywhere because you can’t make those deals. You can’t, as a conservative member of your district, make a deal with somebody on the liberal side because you’re dead. It’s photographed; it’s seen.”

But, nevertheless, Meryl Streep’s impersonation of Donald Trump has turned quite a few heads despite her opposing views. However, many fans would expect nothing less than greatness from the veteran actress. Many fans took to Twitter with their reactions to her impressive performance. She’s been making headlines all day as a result of the stellar performance. Fans are now convinced Meryl Streep can execute any role — even Donald Trump.
