‘Suicide Squad’ Movie Could Be The Best DC Film Since ‘The Dark Knight,’ Say Early Viewers
The Suicide Squad movie has already been seen, and those lucky enough to have done so are raving about it. They are calling it the best DC Comics film since Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. That’s saying a lot, since Nolan brought Batman back from his shameful failures at the hands of Joel Schumacher.
Ever since Christopher Nolan let go of the Batman franchise, fans have had mixed reactions about most new DC movies. Man of Steel was rather oddly paced and felt more like a period piece than a superhero movie, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was critically slammed even though it did well at the box office.

Margot Robbie Says Harley Quinn Is The Best Character In ‘Suicide Squad’
The race for the best superhero film in 2016 started when Deadpool hit in February. Despite having been made on a minimal budget, it proved that R-rated movies could be fan favorites and do well at the box office. Batman v Superman attempted to steal those results and did well enough, but Captain America: Civil War took them back. Now the Suicide Squad movie could be the comeback DC needs to compete with the Marvel films.
Reddit has been getting reviews in from an early screening of the film in Sacramento, and the general consensus is that the Suicide Squad movie is that comeback. Reddit user Soyodu stated that the movie was really good, even if the villain was a big disappointment. This seems to be a common problem with movies made with experimental ideas, like Iron Man 3.
In Shane Black’s entry to the MCU, Mandarin was considered a huge fake-out, and the concept would have worked better if it hadn’t been a comic book superhero movie.
Trevormax1234 of Reddit had a glowing review of Margot Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn, equating it almost to Heath Ledger’s Joker.
“Without a DOUBT the best character in the film is Harley Quinn. I can easily see now why Warner [Bros. is] pushing for a film with her front and center. She isn’t front and center in this film as it’s more of an ensemble piece, but she is still a focal point. And Margot knocked it out of the park. I don’t want to see anyone else play Harley Quinn again, ever. Margot Robbie IS Harley Quinn.”
Harley Quinn was definitely the focus in the Suicide Squad movie trailers released up to this point, outshining even Will Smith in the time she was shown. Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” also helped in one of the trailers, some might say.

It’s obvious that Margot Robbie’s solo Harley Quinn movie will have some high expectations surrounding it. Hopefully, it turns out more like Captain America: Civil War and less like Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Reddit user Trevormax1234 also stated that the critics might not be so forgiving of the film but added that they’ll find a way to hate anything. Batman v Superman has already proven that poor critic reviews don’t mean poor box office results, the same way the last Transformers did, even if most of that film’s success was due to Chinese audiences.
The odds of the Suicide Squad movie being DC’s next major hit at the box office are looking extremely good.
