Randy Jackson No Longer An ‘American Idol’ Judge

The next season of American Idol is going to look a little different. All three of the judges from last year’s season will not be returning. Randy Jackson, however, will return in a new role on the hit Fox show.

TMZ reports that Jackson will no longer be a judge on American Idol. Instead, Jackson will take on a mentor role in the new season.

The Global Grind reports that the people at Fox are a little worried about Jackson’s ability to mentor a young singer, but they didn’t want Randy to leave the show completely. Jackson was one of the original judges on American Idol and is apparently “the glue” that holds the show together.

With Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, and Jennifer Lopez gone, Fox has had to go on a massive search to find its new judge. Mariah Carey has already signed on to the show, and Nicki Minaj is apparently “99%” through negotiations to take one of the seats at the judge’s table.

Nick Jonas, Alanis Morrisette, Kanye West, and Diddy have all been rumored for the final chairs on American Idol.

Who do you think should join the judge’s panel? Do you think Randy Jackson will make a good mentor?
