‘Sense8’ Season 2 Cast, Spoilers: Tuppence Middleton Encourages Fans To Move Past Aml Ameen’s Departure

With news of Lilly Wachowski taking a break from Sense8 Season 2, and Aml Ameen being replaced by Toby Onwumere as Capheus, several fans of the hit Netflix original series cannot help but wonder how the changes will affect the quality of the show. Several outlets have reported that the premiere date of Season 2 will be pushed back even further because of the sudden changes. Sense8 Season 2 is now slated to premiere on 2017, with a Christmas special airing later this year.

According to Buzzfeed, running Sense8Season 2 will be Lana Wachowski’s sole responsibility moving forward. She will reportedly take on the job as the singular director and guiding voice in each of the episodes in the coming season. After coming out as a transgender in March, Lilly decided to take some time off for herself. If Netflix were to renew Sense8 for Season 3, Lilly would be more than happy to return.

The cast of Sense8 had nothing but praise for the Wachowski sisters, especially for Lilly. Jamie Clayton and Brian J. Smith, who play Nomi Marks and Will Gorski on the show, admired Lilly’s endless energy and dedication to make the series better with each episode.

“I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s superhuman what she’s doing. She works long days, six days a week, and then travels with us, but is on the plane writing and rewriting. I want more people to understand the scale of what someone’s creative energy and their drive to tell a story can accomplish. It’s incredible,” he said.

They, however, had no doubts that Lana Wachowski will just be as capable running Sense8 Season 2 on her own, without Lilly’s help. Hopefully, the series will return for another season, so fans can see the Wachowski sisters back in action again.

Another unexpected twist in Sense8 Season 2 is Aml Ameen’s departure. His character, Capheus, will now be played by The Book of Dallas actor Toby Onwumere. While some have already predicted Ameen leaving the cast following his alleged disagreement with some of his co-stars, Jamie Clayton was quick to shut down these rumors. She insisted that Aml’s decision to leave the show was not because he had a rift with the cast.

Tuppence Middleton, who plays Riley Blue on the show, added that it was just a matter of creative differences. She also encouraged Sense8 fans not to read too much on the recasting, but rather focus on more positive things.

“I think the most important thing is that Capheus’s storyline lives. He’s a great character, and it would be a real shame to have that go away… There’s a lot stranger things we’re doing than recasting an actor.”

Toby Onwumere, the new Capheus, shared that he immediately felt a connection with the rest of the Sense8 cast after meeting them for the first time. While they were saddened by Ameen’s departure, they quickly welcomed Onwumere to the family. Clayton explained that the Wachowskis have always been on the look out to introduce more characters in Season 2. She shared that they were looking for outgoing and respectful actors, who had no limitations as far as the material was concerned.

Meanwhile, Max Riemelt, who plays Wolfgang Bogdanow on the series, dropped a few spoilers for Sense8 Season 2. While some may consider Season 1 risqué as it is, Riemelt hints that there is more to come in the coming episodes.

“There’s more sex, more violence, more of everything! We’re pushing the boundaries.”
