Many have been wondering when Superman would make his first appearance on Supergirl, but it was never confirmed that he even would. The series has left CBS and is heading to The CW for Season 2, and it’s already known that there will be a mega-crossover between the other comic book TV series on the network. Now, it has been revealed that Superman will indeed be making his debut on Supergirl, but who is going to don the red cape?

As reported by Comic Book Resources, Warner Bros. TV has confirmed the fact that Superman is going to appear in Season 2 of Supergirl on The CW. He will appear in the first two episodes of the season, and it’s brought about a ton of excitement.
Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreisberg released a statement showing just how thrilled they are about this move.
“Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of ‘Supergirl.’ Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
With news that Superman is going to appear on Supergirl, all of the attention has now moved over to which actor will play him on the show. Speculation has started running wild on social media, and Variety has reported that casting is already underway for the role of Clark Kent/Kal-El.
For those who aren’t aware, Kal-El is the cousin of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, who is played by Melissa Benoist.
That hasn’t happened, and back in February, Welling himself said that the way his show ran and the way of today’s shows are completely different. It’s hard to think that Welling is going to come back and take on the role, but anything is possible.
Supergirl has already had another former Superman on the show, and that is Dean Cain, who plays Kara’s adoptive father, Jeremiah Danvers. Fans remember that Cain took on the roles of Clark Kent/Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman many years ago.
Brandon Routh, another former Superman, currently plays the role of Ray Palmer/The Atom on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which also airs on The CW.
Superman is going to fly into the new season of Supergirl, and the speculation of who will take on the part is going to continue all summer until Warner Bros. names the actor.
It may have taken a full season of Supergirl for Superman to finally show his face, but Kal-El is going to show his face. There is just so much that is left unknown and it’s how he shows up, for what reasons he shows up, and who is going to play him? Fans may want Tom Welling to once again take on the role of Clark Kent as he did for so many years on Smallville, but chances are that it’s going to be someone entirely new as the Man of Steel.
