‘First Wives Club’ Reboot: Alyson Hannigan, Megan Hilty Join TV Land Show — Who Will They Play?

Alyson Hannigan and Megan Hilty have joined TV Land’s First Wives Club reboot!

TV Land is the latest network to throw their hat into the remake, revival, or reboot game, and some big news has been announced regarding the project. Deadline is reporting that Hannigan and Hilty have officially signed on to join the remake of the 1996 film that starred Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, and Bette Midler.

However, the TV land reboot of First Wives Club is not an exact carbon copy of the flick but the same concept with, of course, an updated twist setting it apart from the hit movie.

Although not all of the characters have been revealed yet, now that Alyson Hannigan and Megan Hilty have joined the TV Land’s Frist Wives Club reboot, a few more details have been revealed. The remake will feature three slightly different characters from the film, and it will take place in San Francisco during the 1990s. Once again, the premise is that three college friends are brought back together after one of their friends dies. The three women bond over life, relationships, regret, and friendship

Megan Hilty will play Kim in the TV Land First Wives Club reboot. Her character is a single mom and washed-up actress who once had a very successful career. She spends her time constantly looking for a breakout role that will give her career a new start.

Alyson Hannigan will play Maggie, an English professor who used to be an aspiring poet who is in a loveless marriage. The character goes through a major transformation when her friend dies, and she reexamines her life.

While these characters sound a little bit similar to the movie characters, they are in no way the same characters. As mentioned above, the reboot of the movie, which was based off the book, will have a whole new spin on it. Plus, with Hannigan and Hilty playing the roles, there is no way these characters will be the same as the ones that were respectively played by Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton in the movie.

Now that it has been revealed that the TV Land reboot of the First Wives Club has cast Alyson Hannigan and Megan Hilty, the only main cast member in question is the coveted third friend, aka the Bette Midler-type role. There has been no word yet on this role, but with these two big name stars officially attached to the project, it will hopefully only be a matter of time before the entire cast is announced. Anyone else see Sarah Michelle Gellar or Melissa Joan Hart fitting right in with this cast?

TV Land has yet to even discuss a premiere date, which is no surprise since casting still has to be done and a pilot has yet to be shot. However, it will likely be sometimes in 2017, and perhaps they will use their breakout show Younger as a way to launch the new series. The network announced back in March that it was going to remake the film.

The First Wives Club reboot has cast Megan Hilty and Alyson Hannigan as two of its leading characters. This is a big win for the remake and for the network having these two ladies on board. Each has a big fan following, which will mean better odds of people checking out the remake.
