Haskell 2009 Results: Rachel Alexandra romps home


Three year old filly Rachel Alexandra followed up her win in the Preakness with first place in the $1.25m Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park today.

The filly, which many are calling the best race horse the United States at the moment, never looked tired, crossing the line a full 6 lengths clear of Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird.

Video of the race shows that the distance could have been far greater, with Calvin Borel easing off the gap became unbeatable on the heavy track.

Rachel Alexandra went into the race the short priced favorite at 1-2, having won six from six races this year. With the Haskell, she now has a racing record of 10 wins from 13 starts

Behind Summer Bird, Munnings was third, Papa Clem was fourth, then Duke of Mischief, Atomic Rain and Bunker Hill.
