‘Mom, I’m Fine:’ Adventure Traveler Finds Unique Way To Reassure His Latin Mom Using Instagram

According to Jonathan Kubben Quinonez, it doesn’t matter what age you are, if you have a passion for adventure and a Latin mom, she worries about you. Quinonez has found the ideal way to let her know he is just fine by posting original images to Instagram.

Everywhere Quinonez goes, he gets a photo snapped, showing him holding a sign saying, “Mom, I’m fine,” and it’s become a regular habit. In fact, the photos have become so popular, he now has more than 58,000 followers on his Instagram page.

It’s normal for parents to worry about their kids, no matter their age. But, Quinonez expresses it is especially true if you have a Latin mom, so the former model has found a funny way to reassure his nervous mother, as well as have a bit of fun along the way.

Whether he’s posting with a bunch of bikini-clad women, sky diving, or scuba diving, out comes the camera and the image goes straight to Instagram to reassure mom.

Quinonez, 27, is hoping to travel the world, living it up on gorgeous sandy beaches, visiting famous landmarks and generally documenting his adventures as he goes with signs reading, “Mom, I’m fine.”

He reportedly quit his job as a consultant earlier this year, sold his car, and set off on a journey around the world. While, so far, he has only shared a few photos of his ongoing travels through the Americas, he has already amassed an amazing 58,000 Instagram followers, all no doubt looking forward to more.

He’s definitely fine when he’s posting alongside a group of gorgeous, bikini-wearing women in Cancun, and he looks cute while getting up close and friendly with a sloth in Costa Rica. However, mom probably still worries when she sees him being held upside-down by men dressed in army fatigues in Colombia.

Quinonez said the photo taken with the group of Colombian men in army fatigues was staged, especially, to wish his mother a happy birthday.

He has also shared images of himself standing in the crystal clear water off the coast of Panama and scuba diving in the Caribbean Sea.

Quinonez is originally from Brussels in Belgium, and he said he chose to start his journey in Latin America because “Cuba is changing fast,” and he wanted to visit before the country sees the expected future boom in tourism. Reportedly, his father is Belgian, while his mother hails from Mexico.

The former model recently told MailOnline Travel during his latest stop in Colombia, “When I arrived there with the time difference, the Communist party blocking the Internet and the prices of phone calls, it was difficult to communicate with my friends and family.”

“As my mother is a Latin mother, always worried, I had to find a way to tell her that I was fine. So I found a way. I started to take pictures in a lot of funny or scary situations with my sign saying ‘Mom, I’m fine.'”

He said no matter what the situation was, whether diving or even meeting up with crocodiles, he always found a way to give her his message. However, she probably still gets nervous watching him jumping out of a plane while holding a sign, skydiving over Playa del Carmen in Mexico.

The bonus? Not only is he reassuring his mother with his Instagram messages, but he’s gradually gaining popularity with people from all over the world. He’s also popular with female fans, due to his impressive physique in the Instagram images.

He says his savings are enough to take him across South America this summer, but he is hoping to find sponsors to fund his adventures on other continents.

He adds, “My dream is to continue this amazing trip around the world, still telling my mom that I am fine and making my friends laugh.”
