Han Ji Min To Make Her Return To K-Dramas Through Upcoming tvN Series ‘With You Tomorrow’

One of the first major actors to influence the Hallyu Wave when it was first starting to gain momentum was Han Ji Min. Since her acting debut back in 2003, Ji Min has built up her resume starring in popular K-dramas and K-movies. Some of her most-remembered series roles include playing Jung Ji Na in Padam Padam… The Sound of His and Her Heartbeats, and Park Ha in Rooftop Prince. As for movies, she is known for Han Kaek Ju in Detective K: Secret of the Virtuous Widow, and Queen Jeongsun in The Fatal Encounter.

Now there is recent news that Han Ji Min will be making her return to K-dramas later on this year. Reportedly, she is considered for the female lead for With You Tomorrow, an upcoming K-drama for tvN.

The news of Han Ji Min’s discussions with tvN to be in With You Tomorrow were made known via representatives for the Korean pay channel, as reported by AllKpop.

“Han Ji Min has been offered a role in new tvN drama With You Tomorrow. Currently, we are in discussion.”

At this moment, very little is known about the upcoming K-drama, but it will be a fantasy romance portraying the story of a time traveler and his wife. It was also revealed that it will begin airing sometime in September later on this year.

“Cheese in the Trap” was expected to be the first super-successful K-drama of 2016 that did not start in 2015. Instead, it caused more chaos than ever because of production’s decision to go a different direction from the source web comic. [Image via tvN/”Cheese in the Trap” Promotions]
To be fair, the fact that With You Tomorrow is airing four months from now can only be good for Han Ji Min, and probably tvN if they want this K-drama to really stand out. The reason is because tvN is suffering right now due to the situation surrounding their first K-drama of this year, Cheese in the Trap. Prior to its airing, the K-drama was highly-anticipated, not only among K-drama fans, but fans of the web comic. As a matter of fact, Cheese in the Trap made it on one of China’s “Most Popular K-drama” lists prior to its airing.

Unfortunately, the direction the K-drama went was so unfavorable, Park Hae Jin — the male lead of the series — outwardly spoke how unsatisfied he was with its direction. By its end, Cheese in the Trap was so hated among viewers that the cast and crew had to “hightail” it on vacation just for their safety.

The situation caused by Cheese in the Trap was so severe for tvN, it somewhat affected the viewership of the production channel’s next K-drama after it, Pied Piper, in which its viewership ratings were really bad too. Fortunately, tvN’s current K-drama, Another Oh Hae Young, seems to have redeemed them as viewership ratings for the show are now over 10 percent, a phenomenal feat for a pay channel.

If Han Ji Min does take the role in With You Tomorrow, it will officially be her first K-drama acting role since she played Jang Ha Na in Hyde, Jekyll, Me back in 2015. It will also be Ji Min’s first official acting work for 2016. The only other part she had was a special cameo appearance in the first original K-drama created by Viki, Dramaworld, in which she played herself. For those who want to check out Hyde, Jekyll, Me, the entire series is available to watch for free, with ads, on both DramaFever and Viki pending region.
