‘Street Fighter 5’ DLC Release: Ibuki Arriving Late June Alongside Cinematic Story Mode

Capcom revealed the new Street Fighter 5 DLC release timeframe. According to its official blog post, Ibuki, the upcoming SFV DLC character, is now set for a June launch.

A previous post from The Inquisitr reported that Capcom recently announced that Ibuki is the next Street Fighter 5 DLC character to penetrate the fighting game. After the Combo Breaker Grand Finals, during the awards ceremony, a reveal trailer was shown featuring Ibuki, who is described by Capcom as “everyone’s favorite kunoichi.”

Ibuki was initially expected to arrive in the latter part of May, Capcom confirmed in its blog post. However, the game developer explained that it had to postpone her release to be able to “provide the best experience possible” for their player. Thus, Street Fighter 5’s newest DLC character is now coming in the last week of June.

The blog post also noted that they are targeting to release both Ibuki and the Cinematic Story Mode in the upcoming Street Fighter 5 June update. The free and expanded story mode, expected to connect the gap between Street Fighter IV and the 2016 entry, according to GameSpot, will take two hours to complete.

Moreover, as cited in the report, game producer Yoshinori Ono, talking about the cinematic campaign, shared that there will be character stories “which are really serving as a prologue in terms of getting people up to speed with what’s happening in Street Fighter 5, and it’s very similar to what you see in other Street Fighter titles–it has still screenshots, conversations, and banter between characters.”

Going back to Ibuki, Gaming Bolt shared that she is the third SFV DLC character to join the list. Describing the young ninja, the report said the following.

“Debuting in Street Fighter 3, Ibuki was playable in Street Fighter 4 and has been a fairly regular character in the series over the years. Along with the ability to dash forward, Ibuki can stay afloat in the air using a small parachute. Her main attacks involve kunai which are can be effective for battling foes from a distance.”

As for Ibuki’s character story, Capcom’s post shared that she “has been trained in the deadly art of ninjutsu from an early age in a village located in the mountains of Japan and is often seen with her pet tanuki, Don and her best friend Sarai Kurosawa.”

“She is constantly tasked with difficult missions and rigorous training and dreams of one day finishing her ninja exams, leaving all this behind to live a life of a normal schoolgirl,” the description added.

Ibuki’s arrival to Street Fighter 5 follows Alex’ and Guile’s, the first two of the six post-launch characters announced for the game. Late last year, Capcom shared that there will be six DLC characters coming to the latest iteration of the fighting video game franchise, a separate GameSpot report noted. Fans can look forward to the release details for three more forthcoming Street Fighter 5 DLC characters namely Balrog, Urien and Juri.

Aside from updating fans about the new release schedule for the upcoming Street Fighter 5 DLC, Capcom also apologized for not sharing news to the SFV community as immediate as possible.

“We’ll be the first to admit that we can improve our communication with the community, in terms of where our priorities lie around the game and status updates,” it said. “We plan to change that in the coming weeks and months and will work to quickly address topics that come up in the community as best we can.”

The game developer specifically apologized to SFV players for not telling sooner that the third Street Fighter 5 DLC character’s release will be delayed. “While we planned to talk about the timing of her release this week, it’s clear that we should have been more upfront with everyone on the shift in timing,” Capcom noted.
