Taylor Swift Wanted A Future With Calvin Harris, But Sources Reveal They Were Never Right For Each Other

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris have broken up, and fans are still trying to figure exactly what went wrong with their relationship. Now, as more insiders are telling the world about their lost love, it’s becoming clear that Taylor Swift was more into the relationship that Calvin Harris (real name Adam Wiles) was.

Taylor apparently thought that Harris was “the one,” Us Weekly reports.

“She used to talk about their future a lot — marriage, babies. And although he wants all of that, it just felt a bit like she was all full-steam ahead, whereas he is more of a slow and steady, let things progress organically, kind of guy,” an alleged insider told Us Weekly.

Taylor Swift, 26, met Calvin Harris, 32, in February of 2015 at a Brit Awards after-party. According to The Mirror, they were introduced by a mutual friend and fellow recording artist, Elie Goulding.

When asked about setting Swift and Harris up, Goulding said the following.

“How did I set up Taylor and Calvin? It just kind of happened. They’re both good people, both dear friends. I thought it might work – and it did.”

They both seemed really compatible, Goulding insisted at the time.

“Calvin is a really great mate and he’s so fantastic, and Taylor is such a cool person who I love. I thought. ‘They’re both really awesome and both really tall, they’ll brilliant together.'”

Well, it seemed to work for a while. Within a month, they were dating exclusively and they soon made it Instagram official when Harris posted a picture of Taylor’s cats on his Instagram page, The Mirror reports.

As Us Weekly notes, both Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift seemed happier than ever when they celebrated their one year anniversary in March at a tropical getaway. Taylor was even spotted with a gold, heart-shaped necklace that was rumored to be an anniversary present from Harris.

But the romance seemed to have just fizzled out of the relationship.

“It’s a shame because Taylor is a lovely girl,” Us Weekly’s insider source continued. “But it just obviously wasn’t meant to be.”

Taylor Swift has remained silent on the split, but Calvin Harris has released something of a statement via Twitter.

“The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect,” Harris tweeted. Swift soon retweeted him, an indication that she agreed with what he wrote.

Although their relationship seemed to be a good place, insider sources say that cracks in their love story became apparent early on.

“It was simply a case of not being right for each other,” the source told Us Weekly. “They grew apart quite quickly, and although he tried to give her what she wanted, he felt like they’re just in different places. There’s no one else involved.”

In the end, it seems that Taylor wanted more than Calvin Harris could give.

“Taylor wanted more attention than Adam gave,” adds another insider. “Adam did care very deeply for her but the breakup was bound to happen.”

In other celebrity relationship news, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have also broken up.

Yahoo! Celebrity UK reports that Malik, 23, and Hadid, 21, have called it quits after seven months of dating. Much like Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris, there seems to have been trouble in paradise for Hadid and Malik for a while.

“During her birthday they were fighting,” a source told E! News and added that the supermodel and the former One Direction band member had “broken up and got back together a few times.”
