‘Glee’ Mark Salling Arraigned Over Child Porn Charges With $100K Bank Check

**UPDATE**

Mark Salling has been ordered to stay away from schools and from places that children congregate. Salling must stay at least 100 feet away from parks, arcades, and other known child hang-outs. TMZ says Salling also had to surrender his passport, and has to wear a GPS monitoring device. Salling must also say no to all drugs, and this includes medical marijuana.

Things just got very real for former Glee star Mark Salling as he surrenders to the court on federal child pornography charges. Salling was seen earlier this morning at the bank, getting a registered check for $100,000 to secure his release if the court decides to take him into custody once again after he was indicted earlier this week on child pornography charges. After Salling’s house was searched, Salling denied everything, claiming he was being set up by a former girlfriend, but now that he has been indicted, and it’s in the hands of the federal government, Salling has reportedly dropped that story.

According to the Inquisitr, Mark Salling’s life is in shambles, as since his indictment on child porn charges, he has been fired from Gods and Secrets by director Adi Shankar, who promised to sever his relationship with Salling if he was indicted. Shankar has gone as far as to pay for reshoots himself and to donate a percentage of proceeds to a charity for victims of child abuse and exploitation. Salling is now fully unemployed, and while this case is still in the works, it is unlikely that anyone wants to get involved with an accused child pornographer.

Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Mark Salling arrived early today at the Los Angeles courthouse for his scheduled arraignment looking calm in a blue blazer but no tie. Salling was always scheduled to surrender today ahead of his arraignment, which is scheduled for 2 p.m.

People Magazine spoke to criminal defense attorney Lou Shapiro about what awaits Mark Salling after he is arraigned in the federal child porn case. Shapiro claims that what awaits Salling is very serious. Salling would be a convicted felon, and would also have to be on the sex offender registry for the rest of his life. Shapiro says that the minimum prison sentence for Salling if found guilty would be five years.

“Usually some prison is always involved in these types of cases. The fact that he has no record will be very mitigating for him. But, if there are a lot of images and videos involved, then that can hurt him at drastically at sentencing.”

Shapiro says that he wishes he had better news for Salling in terms of the future of his career, but that even the best actor “would have an insurmountable hurdle to overcome such a devastating career setback.”

Perez Hilton said that Mark Salling’s lawyers made a statement asking for Salling’s privacy at this time. Dmitry Gorin stopped briefly to comment on the events awaiting Salling at the courthouse.

“We hope the media gives Mr. Salling a chance to deal with the case in court.”

U.S. Attorney spokesman Thom Mrozek says that an agreement was already made for Salling to bring a check so that he could be released after today’s arraignment.

“He will be asked to enter a plea, which I presume will be a not guilty plea to the two counts in the indictment. A trial date will be set, likely sometime in late July, early August, and bond will be discussed. We have agreed to a bond with his lawyer so I do expect him to be freed after the arraignment.”

Townhall News confirms that Mark Salling indeed pleaded not guilty today again at his arraignment on child porn charges, but the judge has restricted Salling’s travel and internet usage for now. The judge, U.S. Magistrate Judge Rozella A. Oliver, ruled Mark Salling can be released on $115,000, which includes the check Salling brought with him for $100,000 of his own money to guarantee Salling’s next appearance.

Oliver also added that Salling will also be monitored until his next hearing.

“Salling’s internet-connected devices must now be approved by federal authorities, he will have to wear a location monitoring bracelet and submit to drug testing as conditions of his release.”

Mark Salling is facing 20 years in prison if found guilty on child pornography charges.
