ISIS Being Blasted With Bollywood Music — British Troops Annoyed Terror Group With Hindi Songs To Get Crucial Intel

ISIS is being hit with songs from Bollywood. Musical compositions from hit Hindi movies are being used to annoy the terror groups, thereby forcing them to spill critical intel.

British and American Special Forces have been bombarding ISIS with Bollywood songs. The hit musical numbers from popular movies are being used as another type of ammunition. Though completely non-lethal, the songs serve to annoy the terror group.

Apparently musical compositions from Hindi films are being used as part of psychological warfare, which seeks to unsettle and unnerve the group. Wave after wave of these songs are being sent across enemy lines in an attempt to disturb ISIS since the enemy in this state of mind often makes critical strategic blunders, giving the Special Forces the momentary edge they require. However, according to the Special Forces, the simple reason they are sending across the sound waves is to “discredit the extremists” since they strongly condemn the music and consider it unholy and filthy.

The innovative strategy was deployed after a Pakistani-born British army intelligence officer tipped-off the Special Forces that ISIS strongly considers Bollywood music “apostasy.” In other words, the funky tunes, which are often accompanied by thumping music and dances involving skimpily clad women, is harshly insulting to the terror group’s ultra-conservative interpretation of Islam.

Bollywood tunes are often referred to as Hindi film songs, as they come from northern India and are also followed in neighboring Pakistan, reports Pakistan Today. The songs are insanely popular across generations, but the clerics who interpret Islam for ISIS consider them an gross violation of their dictums.

After ISIS seized many parts of the regions across Syria, they started imposing their version of sharia law, which involves punishing those found with such “disturbing” material in their possession. According to ISIS’s interpretation of sharia law, anything “western,” or frivolous, or simple entertainment like Bollywood songs and movies are considers an insult and all such things are completely banned. Such material is often destroyed in a bonfire.

The musical operation was the brainchild of the Psychological Operations Unit, which is part of a force known as Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). The unit was able to intercept the messages being relayed by the ISIS to their ground forces. After tapping into the communications channel, the group blasted them with Bollywood chart music, reported The Mirror. Speaking about the operations, a senior official said the following.

“We needed to unnerve militants and at the same time use some sort of passive measure to gauge their force strength in the area we are working and it went well.”

A psychological operations unit in Libya intercepted the insurgent’s communications and hit them with Bollywood chart music, while another unit, which acted alongside U.S. Joint Special Operations Command, left two cars with powerful speakers on outskirts of Sirte. At the break of dawn, the speakers were turned out and out blasted Bollywood music, reported the Daily Mail.

Psychological warfare is pretty common, and various groups deploy innovative techniques to unnerve the enemy. Additionally, such tactics help the Special Forces discredit ISIS among the locals, as it implies defiance and contempt for the terror group’s forcibly imposed regime.

However, apart from attempting to psychologically dominate the terrorist organization, blasting ISIS with Bollywood music had a very critical and strategically important motive. By observing the time it took for the terror group to take notice of the music, and calculating the response time the militants took to reach the source of the music, Special Forces were able to figure out how much force ISIS had deployed in the region. Moreover, as the terrorists emerged from the hideouts, the Special Forces were able to spot their weak points and observational posts as well.
