Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid, Zayn Malik, Calvin Harris: From “New Romantics” To New Singles

Taylor Swift and BFF Gigi Hadid are singles again, by coincidence. Sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction. Taylor Swift just split up with dance artist Calvin Harris, while Gigi Hadid has broken off from Zayn Malik, the One Direction breakaway dude.

Just last weekend, and a Memorial weekend at that, Zayn was caught whipping up a sumptuous dish for his now ex, Gigi Hadid. And the next thing you know, they have parted ways after only seven months of giving their relationship a go.

The demise of the short-lived Zayn-Gigi romance was totally unexpected. In contrast, the end of Taylor Swift’s 15-month romance was according to both parties, the result of lifestyle as well as personality differences, and the particular way that Taylor Swift wants to be treated in the relationship. Wow, that sounds pretty complicated.

However, one explanation that makes sense is what People seems to be hinting at: ‘Tis the season. Yes, summer triggers a lot of changes not only weather-wise but hormones-wise and more.

The explanation makes sense because actually, what happened to the personal lives of Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid are but the tip of the iceberg. In recent memory, there’s also heartthrob Zac Efron breaking up from model Sami Miro. And come to think of it, beauty queen Olivia Culpo is finally moving on from Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers’ fame.

Is there some kind of breakup epidemic going on? No, it’s just the season, although breakups seem to be happening more amongst the New Romantics in the population, that is, not accounting for the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard divorce.

And while it is not as obvious as Taylor Swift’s or Gigi Hadid’s case, even “Same Old Love” is having a curious, if not under-the-radar, finally-moving-on scenario. Of course, this is in reference to Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez finally moving on in their respective ways from the Jelena squad.

To illustrate, Justin Bieber recently dated emerging Transformers star, Nicola Peltz. Selena Gomez, on the other hand, is seriously trying out the dating scene with somebody other than The Biebs according to a previous report by the Inquisitr. She even crumpled a fan’s “Marry Justin” note at her Revival concert, which is, of course, a very visible, as well as very sure sign of breaking away from her romantic past.

So clearly, the Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid experiences cannot be taken in isolation. Indeed, examples abound of either a breakup or a “moving on” scenario from recent Hollywood history. In addition, these sad developments have all occurred just in time for summer.

While the personalities involved are all single, young and successful, there’s always the possibility of someone needing TLC or even therapy. Not sure if that will be Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid or some other people. But whoever you are, you might want to read up on some tips to combat depression in a breakup or a moving on episode.

Tip # 1 according to Love Panky, is don’t go crazy. The source explains as follows.

“Yes, you’re going to have a lot of free time on your hands. But look at the bright side, you have so much time to do the things you love. Don’t cut your hair off, don’t go having sex with anything that walks, and don’t drunk dial your ex all night long.”

Here are a few more useful tips from the same source.

  • Start doing the things you weren’t able to do when you were in a relationship.
  • Avoid going to places that will remind you of your ex.
  • Have a party or as People suggests, embark on a summer getaway.

The list is by no means exhaustive. Feel free to think up a few more things you can do to help you heal more quickly. By thinking your way out of a depressing situation, the recovery process can come much faster.

Not sure if Taylor Swift or Gigi Hadid will need it more, but taking tips from the love doctor is a good start towards lifting oneself up from depression or even avoiding it altogether. For the fact remains, the first thing that a person usually does after coming from a broken relationship is to be in denial. Taylor Swift or Gigi Hadid might still be all smiles from the paparazzi point of view, but for all you know, they could be bleeding on the inside.
