Jessa Seewald’s ‘Mom Tribe’ Has ‘Squad Goals,’ Duggar Daughter Spends Time With Friends

The Duggar family may keep away from “worldly” things like girls wearing pants, bikinis, frontal hugging, and pop music, but it seems that even the Duggars can’t hide from the popular trend of having “squad goals” and a “tribe.” Jessa Seewald has featured a number of her friends over the years on both 19 Kids and Counting and the new Duggar series Jill & Jessa: Counting On. With the focus of the series turning towards the Duggar children, it seems that some things may be changing in Duggarville.

With the new Counting On series focusing on the lives of the Duggar children, we are getting a better glimpse at the social lives of the Duggars outside of the family home. With Jill Dillard off in Central America, the new series has focused more heavily on the happenings back in Arkansas with Jessa Seewald taking center stage.

Jessa has never been one to shy away from the camera, and she caused some mild controversy during her pregnancy for posting “too many selfies.” With the focus of the series resting heavily on the Seewalds, it seems that Jessa has been spending less time taking selfies and more time hanging out with her friends.

While the Duggars are not known for jumping on current trends regarding clothing or music, it seems they are not opposed to all popular trends. In 2015, the term “squad goals” entered seamlessly into the vocabulary of teens and early 20-somethings as easily as the terms hashtag and selfie in 2014. The term is used to describe a close-knit group of friends that are, of course, known for being fabulous. Another popular term that is on trend currently for a close-knit friend group is “tribe.”

The rise of the “girl squad” began when Taylor Swift arrived at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards with her entire squad in tow. Swift showed up with nine other women making a photo-worthy entrance and spearheading many fans to call the group the ultimate in “squad goals.” It seems that Jessa Seewald’s two besties are now hoping they can be the next “mom squad” or if that fails a “mom tribe.”

Sierra Jo Dominguez has been featured alongside Jessa Seewald on a number of episodes and serves as a party planner for a variety of Duggar events. However, when she isn’t planning parties, it seems that Sierra is spending a lot of time with Jessa and their squad, which just so happens to include a number of other Duggar girls.

It appears that Jessa Seewald’s squad has a sub-squad that includes Sierra Jo and Kristen Young. The three all have babies which resulted in Kristen dubbing them the “Squish Squad.”

While it seems that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have done their best to shield their children from much of the outside world, it appears that even the Duggars can’t escape popular social media culture.

However, it seems the Duggars should be happy that the only outside culture making its way into the lives of the Duggar girls is popular young adult vernacular. Despite heavy internet restrictions, the oldest Duggar son Josh was forced into rehab after it was revealed he had pornography addiction which he viewed on the internet and eventually led to infidelity via an online dating website for married men. Following the revelations, Josh was sent to a residential Christian rehabilitation center before eventually returning home to his wife Anna for more marriage counseling.

What do you think of Jessa Duggar Seewald’s “squish squad?”
