Aston Martin DB11 Release Date, Price Set To Reboot Automotive Design

The Aston Martin DB11 release date has been announced, and it is expected to completely change everything about the design. Most car manufacturers often use the same parts over and over, with slight tweaks under the hood and along the body. Sometimes a new safety feature gets introduced, such as with the Tesla Model X’s electronic sensors, a problem which almost led to a recall over safety issues.

This redesign of the Aston Marton DB11 could also be a headache for your average mechanic, who might need to learn a whole new system to repair it or simply have you take it to the dealer. It’s unknown if things like valve stems and the OBDII scanner port will have changed drastically enough to make them a problem.

The parts mentioned above are used a lot in self-maintenance and could be trouble if they’re changed. Chances are, the necessary parts for maintenance will simply be given a visual tweak only, unlike the engine.

The engine on the Aston Martin DB11 may be inspired by the hypercar they are making with Red Bull, a turbocharged V12 engine (meaning 12 cylinders and a speed boost) at 5.2 liters offering up a speedy 1500 to 5000 rpm at peak torque. This car is meant to go fast and is likely to be a popular choice for those seeking an import model for racing.

Body modifications will be a big selling point due to a wide range of options. Even though the Aston Martin is the car of choice in most James Bond films, don’t expect any of those options to include military firepower in the headlamps or anything.

The hood and roof scoops and spoilers can be customized, making it about as variable in appearance as most cars in your average Need for Speed video game, particularly Underground. You can even choose the color and style on the grills.

The interior will be yet another noticeable change, with a much more modern design. The console will have a decidedly tear-shaped design, and the steering wheel has even been completely changed. High-quality leather covers almost every surface.

Even the gear shifter has been overhauled with an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox powering the rear wheels. There are three available driving modes that can be switched with ease at the push of a button, affecting the suspension dampeners. You can choose from GT, Sport, and Sport+ so you have almost total control of your overall ride. With British company Daimler owning a 5 percent claim in the Aston Martin DB11, the gear shift’s inner works were taken from the S-Class, but it has a distinct Aston Martin look, according to the Week.

Probably the biggest downside for those who can afford this car is the rear seats. They aren’t very spacious due to the rear design and likely won’t accommodate tall or heavyset passengers. Expect to put a lot of larger cargo in the passenger seat because of this.

The initial stock price for the Aston Martin DB11 will be £154,900, which is on the low side. However, options will likely raise the price to more luxury levels. The luxury vehicle should be hitting the road sometime in September or October.
