‘General Hospital’ Casting News: Get The Scoop On Who Is Returning, Who Is Sticking Around, And Who Is Leaving

There seems to be a revolving door these days when it comes to who is staying and who is leaving ABC’s General Hospital. Recent casting news has viewers a little uptight on which actor may be next to either take a temporary leave or get recast. With recent contract negotiations happening, you just never know what will happen next.

There is one piece of good news that may make GH fans smile, and it involves a particular handsome Aussie who is making his way back to his home on General Hospital. Ingo Rademacher is returning to his role as Jasper Jacks this summer, as announced by TV Line. The actor and his longtime character are both well loved by viewers.

Rademacher is expected to be on a recurring status and will be on screen on July 29. He will most likely be involved in the storyline about how his daughter, Josslyn, received her kidney a few years back. All this time he and his ex-wife, Carly, thought that their daughter was the recipient of Jake Webber’s kidney when he had supposedly died. However, little Jake turned out to be alive all this time, and now the question remains as to where that kidney actually came from. Carly has been investigating with the help of Dr. Finn, so maybe Jax will arrive to help out with that.

In another piece of good news, it has been reported by Celeb Dirty Laundry that Roger Howarth, who plays the role of Franco Baldwin, has just renewed his contract and will be sticking around General Hospital a while longer. Howarth is also a fan-favorite, so this is great news. He has been on-screen now more than ever and may have an upcoming new romance happening soon.

The casting news goes on, but not all is so good. A recent announcement came in that the role of Nikolas Cassadine has been recast with another actor. Tyler Christopher is apparently stepping away from his longtime role as the Cassadine prince on General Hospital, and as previously reported by the Inquisitr, it has become a bit of a shake-up. Nick Stabile will be taking his place soon, so Nikolas will have a new face. This is said to just be temporary for now. The talk is that there could have been a snag in his contract negotiations but whatever the reason, Tyler had asked to take a personal leave for a bit. He will certainly be missed.

If that wasn’t enough, the role of Maxie Jones is also being temporarily replaced. Actress Kirsten Storms is taking a leave from the soap because of a skin condition that she says is due to stress. Former Days of Our Lives star, Molly Burnett, will be coming in to take over the role of Maxie until Storms is well enough to come back. She issued this statement on social media about it.

“Yes, I’m taking a little break from work due to some skin issues I’ve been having. The dr’s say my breakouts are due to stress, but shouldn’t take too long to get under control. However, it was becoming too difficult for GH to coverup. And we all know in this biz appearance is important. In the meantime I look forward to seeing Molly on screen as I take the next few weeks to heal.”

Lastly, another longtime General Hospital vet is taking some time off this summer. Serial Scoop reported that Finola Hughes will be taking a break from the soap and will be missing for most of the season. Hughes plays the role of Anna Devane and has been a staple on the ABC daytime drama. Her character may just jet off to visit daughter Robin Scorpio and her family in California for a bit.

There seem to be so many comings and goings on General Hospital that it is beginning to be hard to keep up with. Hopefully, these breaks are short and sweet, with the actors back to their original roles soon. In the meantime, enjoy some Ingo Rademacher and Roger Howarth on screen this summer to make the season even hotter.
