‘The 100’: Should There Be A New Heroine In Season 4? Why Raven Should Replace Clarke As The Leader [Opinion]

The 100 Season 3 finale aired a few weeks ago. Fans were hoping new episodes wouldn’t be too far away. However, it was reported that the show will not return to The CW network until 2017. In the meantime, viewers are busy speculating on what will happen next. No matter what the storyline has been, all three seasons featured Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) as the heroine. However, should Season 4 get a new leader?

Warning: Although this is a theory, possible spoilers for The 100 Season 4 may be ahead.

Although the television show is based on the books of the same name, the two are nothing alike. Some of the characters are similar, but the storylines are different. In both The 100 books and TV show, Clarke is the focus. Although many love Eliza Taylor’s character, it might be time to let someone else shine.

Ever since The 100 began airing on The CW network, Raven Reyes (Lindsey Morgan) has gone through one traumatic experience after another. Fans have wondered when the writers will give Raven a break. No matter what she is going through, Raven continues to prove she is a capable leader. She is intelligent, tech-savvy, thinks outside the box, and is strong and fearless. Like any well-developed character, she also has vulnerabilities. That is what makes her human. Fans can still relate to Raven while admiring her.

Clarke also has many positive traits, but she has so much inner turmoil going on. Following Lexa’s death and the things Alie put Clarke and Abby through, she needs a break from leadership. Yes, she wants to save the world, especially since Alie warned of a nuclear disaster that will occur in just six months. However, it doesn’t always have to be Clarke who leads the Sky Crew, makes all the decisions, and saves the day.

Someone more capable of leading the Sky Crew in The 100 would be Raven. Not only does she have leadership skills, but Raven is incredibly resourceful. As previously stated by The Inquisitr, Raven could figure out a way to deal with the power plant crisis.

In each season of The 100, Raven has proven herself. In Season 1, she didn’t arrive on Earth with the other characters. She bartered her way down, but the pod crashed. However, she survived and used her mechanical skills to build a radio.

During Season 2 of the post-apocalyptic series, Raven suffered nerve damage in her leg. She was really beginning to suffer, but refused to let it slow her down. Raven also lost Finn in a horrible way. Later, she was tortured on two separate occasions in the same season. First, it was the Grounders, and the second time, Raven was tortured by the Mountain Men.

Season 3 of The 100 was not any easier on Raven Reyes. Still having pain in her leg, she took Alie’s chip. The pain was gone and Raven felt she had a purpose. However, when she realized Alie took away her most important memories, she snapped out of it. Unfortunately, her problems were going to get worse. Alie was not going to let Raven go without a fight, and Lindsey’s character nearly died.

Even though Raven went through all of that, she still managed to help defeat Alie. It is true that Clarke went into the City of Light on her own, but Raven was at the mainframe much of the time. She could read Alie’s code and gave a lot of information on the AI’s programming and kill switch. Although every member of the Sky Crew has their strengths, it seems Raven has the most skills and knowledge. It is true that she can be emotional and sometimes wants to make rash decisions, but Raven also listens to others. A prime example of this was when Raven was reading Alie’s code. As TV Guide noted, she wanted to go ahead, but Monty told Raven to wait for Clarke. Heeding good advice is another trait that good leaders have.

Clarke may have begun as the main character in The 100, but a lot of the character development has been with Raven. Fans are tired of her getting the traumatic storylines. Alloy Entertainment listed several excellent reasons Lindsey Morgan‘s character is the heart of the show. For just one season, Raven should get the credit she deserves.

What do you think? Should Clarke Griffin continue to be the heroine? Or would Raven Reyes make a better leader in The 100 Season 4?
