Calvin Harris Ends Relationship With Taylor Swift Because ‘It Just Wasn’t Working Anymore’
Calvin Harris called it quits with his long-time girlfriend Taylor Swift several days ago, multiple media reports reported late Wednesday.
The 32-year-old Harris is said to have ended the relationship with Swift because “it just wasn’t working anymore,” an anonymous source told Us Weekly. Calvin and Taylor had dated for the previous 15 months.
E! Online also reported that Calvin was the one to end the relationship. Quoting a source close to both Harris and Swift, the report explained that Taylor wasn’t happy with the decision despite the amicable ending.
“This all happened last week. Taylor and Adam [Wiles, Calvin Harris’ real name] had no big blowout fight, but the romance just was not there anymore for them. [Calvin] is the one that ended it. It was all done in a very mature fashion. Taylor is pretty upset but they are still in communication.”
Another insider with knowledge of the relationship between Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift echoed the comments, according to a People magazine report. “There was no drama,” the source said. “Things just don’t work out sometimes. No one cheated.”

The timing of the break-up is curious as Calvin was recently injured in a car crash. The New York Daily News showed scenes from the harrowing accident, revealing how fortunate Harris was to walk away from the vehicle relatively unscathed. Hollywood Life reported that Taylor rushed to his side after the accident, and sources said that Swift was planning to nurse Harris back to health.
“Taylor has told Calvin that she doesn’t want him doing anything for the next few days, and when she sees him she will be waiting on him hand and foot. Calvin doesn’t want a fuss made, but she’s not going to give him any choice in that matter. She will be catering to him for everything he needs, even if that includes driving him around or making him a cup of tea. [Taylor] wants Calvin to make sure he really does take the time off needed to recover from the car crash because he’s always running at a hundred miles an hour and doesn’t know when to stop.”
To that end, Harris cancelled two Las Vegas shows immediately following his car accident. However, the Scottish DJ had recovered enough over the weekend to head to London for a short trip according to Entertainment Tonight.
The relationship between Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift had seemed to be heading in the right direction. The couple had recently celebrated their one-year anniversary with a tropical getaway, and the 26-year-old “Bad Blood” singer had recently gushed about their relationship in the April edition of Vogue.
“I’m just taking things as they come. I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key … this is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life.”
Swift and Harris had also shared a romantic Christmas trip together with the “Shake It Off” singer’s family. Taylor shared images from the trip on Instagram, showing off a snowman she and Calvin had built.
Rumors had surfaced earlier this year that Harris and Swift were having relationship troubles, but the advice Taylor sought from friends was about how to make the relationship with Calvin stronger, the Inquisitr reported. Even famous Swift squad member Selena Gomez had commented about how happy Taylor seemed to be in her relationship with Harris.
Previously, Swift has dated Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner. Harris was linked to Rita Ora prior to this relationship.
