George Takei Slams Donald Trump
George Takei slammed Donald Trump Tuesday night on Facebook by comparing him to a baseball coach who can’t explain why he’s qualified for a job coaching football, according to Mic.
George Takei is the former Star Trek actor who has gained a large social media following over the years. Takei used the analogy of a veteran football coach retiring, which would be President Obama, and the rookie coach who might replace him, Donald Trump, having no explanation for why he’s good for the job.
“Say you’re on a football team, and your coach is retiring,” Takei wrote. “You decide as a team to select a new coach. Along comes this guy who says he’s perfect for the job. ‘Have you coached football before?’ one team member asks. ‘That doesn’t matter,’ the man says. ‘I’m going to be the best coach ever. We’re going to win. We’re going to win and win, because we’re champs.'”
Takei goes on with the conversation, with the rookie coach not really having any plan for the team. Takei even mocks Trump fans, who he portrays as being impressed by Trump’s fame and attitude.
“I understand you coached baseball before, but actually, I hear you lost most of the time,” Takei wrote from a spectator’s perspective. “You got to coach baseball because your dad owned the team, but you still lost most of the time.”
Takei continues to point out that the coach, who represents Trump, can’t explain how he’ll accomplish what he wants to accomplish.
“Look, don’t ask me how. The details don’t matter, because we’re going to win,” Takei wrote for Trump’s character. “The other teams suck. They’re a bunch of wimps and losers. And I’m the best coach there is, football, baseball, you name it. So how ’bout it guys? Am I your new coach, or what?”
This isn’t the first time George Takei has gone after Donald Trump. Takei made fun of Trump’s speaking style in March by writing a Facebook post where, in a hypothetical Trump response, he couldn’t answer a question as simple as “What is 2+2?”
“I have to say a lot of people have been asking this question. No, really. A lot of people come up to me and they ask me. They say, ‘What’s 2+2’? And I tell them look, we know what 2+2 is,” Takei wrote. “We’ve had almost eight years of the worst kind of math you can imagine. Oh my God, I can’t believe it. Addition and subtraction of the 1s the 2s and the 3s. It’s terrible. It’s just terrible.”
The post goes on to portray Donald Trump as someone who dances around the answer without actually answering the question.
A viral video titled “How Donald Trump Answers A Question” looked at the way Trump uses language and found he often uses words that evoke certain feelings, rather than focusing on the intellectual content of an answer. The video says 78 percent of the words in a Trump response they analyzed were only one syllable, and Trump uses very simple language. They point out that Trump’s speeches are typically written at a fourth-grade reading level.
George Takei has also criticized Trump on television.
“He is very indecisive; he’s a chameleon,” Takei told MSNBC on Wednesday. “He’ll make that statement decisively, and then he’ll change it decisively. He’s a very flip-floppy guy.”

George Takei’s recent post about the coaches went viral overnight, and it currently has nearly 50,000 shares on Facebook. The top comment on the post says that comparing Trump to a baseball coach is giving him too much credit, and the commenter thinks Trump would be more akin to someone who used to run bakeries and now wants a coaching job.
