‘Dark Woods Justice’ Promises Plenty Of Intense Drama And Hidden Dangers

There is a darkly majestic forest located deep in the heart of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, and it harbors some of the rarest and oldest trees on Earth. Spanning a distance of over 2,000 square miles, these mysterious woods are so massive and diverse that they are known as America’s “Last Untamed Wilderness.”

According to Broadway World, these mysterious woods at times are very good at hiding dark and dangerous secrets, and it is the job of law enforcement to uncover and expose any crimes committed there. Sheriff’s deputies throughout the entire region have sworn to protect their communities and the rainforest at all costs, and they are willing to risk it all as they battle the rising criminal activity in the peninsula.

Dark Woods Justice is a six-episode series that will feature natural resource theft and other investigations conducted by the Mason, Jefferson, and Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Offices. Pop Tower shared that the trees in the Olympic Peninsula are so valuable and coveted that there is a major problem with poachers who are willing to risk not just prison time but their lives as well in order to obtain them. Known for the intricate patterns ingrained in the wood, trees like the Western Big Leaf Maple can easily bring in millions of dollars. Their unique wood is often used to create high-quality guitars and other musical instruments. The supply has been dwindling, and this has triggered the rapid rise of black market harvesting.

This illicit activity keeps the Dark Woods Justice deputies busy tracking down and apprehending the people behind these criminal acts. The premiere episode of Dark Woods Justice, titled “Beware,” will feature Jefferson County Deputy Adam Newman and his fellow deputies as they strive to stop the rising criminal underground that is fueling the destruction of the rainforest and harming its communities.

Although the deputies on Dark Woods Justice are deeply involved in stopping the illegal tree harvesting and protecting the vast wilderness all across the peninsula, there are other vitally important jobs to do as well. Dark Woods Justice will follow deputies, such as Detective Jeff Rhodes from Mason County, who are tasked with finding people who often go missing in the vast expanse of this massive forest. Despite the harsh environment and rough terrain, these deputies featured on Dark Woods Justice all come together and continue to persevere as they search for answers and uncover the truth in an ongoing battle that they will never give up.

iFiber One News Radio shared that during a monthly law enforcement breakfast, Sheriff Casey Salisbury recently spoke to first responders from multiple agencies in the region, including fire, medical, legal, and law enforcement personnel.

Salisbury talked about the partnerships of all Mason County’s neighboring law enforcement agencies, saying, “People ask how we handle large investigations in Mason County and I respond that our neighboring agencies are great friends and because of our relationships, we can send resources back and forth to support one another. It’s not just Mason County. It’s all our brother and sister agencies who make these things happen.”

Together, these various law enforcement agencies, along with other first responders, have teamed up to make sure that they continue to serve and protect their communities to the very best of their abilities. As Dark Woods Justice will show, they are dedicated to stopping any criminal elements in and around their communities. They are also dedicated to protecting the delicate ecological balance of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula.

Dark Woods Justice is produced for Discovery by PSG Films. Kyle Wheeler serves as the executive producer, with Greg Wolf serving as the associate producer for the Discovery Channel.
