‘Big Brother 18’ House Tour Images Leaked: CBS Summer House Gets A Makeover For Season 18

Big Brother spoilers have been few and far between for Season 18, but two weeks before the big cast reveal, things are finally beginning to trickle out. The website Big Brother Junkie posted a Flickr feed of leaked photos of the Big Brother house after host Julie Chen took Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier for a personal tour through the Studio City area digs that will be the home for the Season 18 contestants this summer.

Frazier’s post about his sneak peek inside the Big Brother house left everything to the imagination — a sliver of light was all fans could see through the open double doors — but he did describe the design as “refurbished” and teased that there are “a few interesting surprises” inside the house this season.

While Frazier’s tease gave fans practically nothing, the leaked photos from the tour show that the Big Brother house has indeed gotten a makeover — and maybe even a theme for 2016. The most noticeable change is the kitchen, which boasts wallpaper with a colorful airplane design. A large replica of the Eiffel Tower on top of the refrigerator suggests that maybe this season will have a travel or international theme. Another beachy looking room appears to have sand on the floor, while a Japanese anime-style room features a phone booth.

While the Big Brother Season 18 house has some definite updates, a few things always stay the same. Every season, the houseguests are given a chess set to use. According to CBS, chess is the only tabletop game allowed in the house. Other tidbits about the Big Brother house include the faux windows featured throughout the pad, the ever-shrinking dining room table that gets sized down as contestants get evicted, and the rubber ducky that can be found in the Big Brother hot tub every year.

According to Online Big Brother, the Big Brother house is actually a studio set located in Studio City, California (Stage 18), which is used exclusively for the annual CBS reality show. The entire Stage 18 complex is 14,000 square feet, but for the first five seasons of the show, the Big Brother house was only one floor. Season 6 marked the first-ever supersized version of the house, and houseguests have had two floors of living space ever since.

As for features of the Big Brother house, the basic layout has remained the same since Season 6. There is always a pool and a hot tub on the Big Brother property, and some seasons have featured extra amenities like a sauna and a weight room.

While it’s pretty obvious that the Big Brother backyard has fake grass, some fans may not realize that the part of the house that Julie Chen stands outside of to interview the evicted houseguests is simply a wall dressed up to look like a house.

Past Big Brother house themes include an “urban treehouse” (Season 16) and an Alice in Wonderland theme (Season 8). Fans will get the scoop on this season’s house theme when Julie Chen presumably hosts her annual tour of the property sometime in the next few weeks. Or Entertainment Tonight may feature Frazier’s tour with Chen.

Big Brother Season 18 premieres Wednesday, June 22 with an unprecedented two-hour premiere. Some fans think the supersized premiere will feature a competition to whittle down an initial cast list of up to 30 players. Part two of the two-night premiere will air Thursday, June 23.
