NBA Rumors: Chicago Bulls To Trade Derrick Rose To Dallas Mavericks For Devin Harris

The Chicago Bulls are in full-on rebuilding mode, and major changes need to be made before the start of next season. With Joakim Noah likely on his way out, there have also been rumors of Jimmy Butler being traded away since he would garner more offers. Now, it appears as if Butler is being seen as the new leader of the Bulls, and it’s Derrick Rose who is on the trading block, which makes a deal with the Dallas Mavericks quite possible.

Chicago may not only lose Noah but Pau Gasol could be heading out of the door as well, and that could give the Bulls a totally different look next season. Derrick Rose finally had a season where he was able to stay almost injury-free, but he’s still nowhere near the player he once was.

He’s still only 27-years-old and has a lot to give to the NBA, but his time has run its course in Chicago. Rose is due $21.3 million next season and the Bulls would love to free up that cap space in hopes of rebuilding with other players in free agency.

Fansided believes that the Dallas Mavericks are going to remember their past free agency troubles and look more into trades. With some really bad luck with the whole DeAndre Jordan situation last season, Mark Cuban and the Mavs don’t want to get burned yet again.

If the Mavs want to really look into getting a big-time player via a trade, they may end up looking to the Chicago Bulls. Dallas could put together a trade package that includes guard Devin Harris and some second-round players to acquire Rose and also free up cap space in the process.

Now, instead of going after the huge names in free agency and getting burned, the Mavericks could pick up their key player in Rose and target smaller free agents this summer.

Pursuing a trade of Rose would help the Mavericks offer a max deal to Chandler Parsons who they are really hoping doesn’t leave in the coming months. Rose’s presence would truly bring some attention and a very talented point guard to Dallas, but keeping him healthy is going to be their biggest concern.

Chicago is not going to field a lot of trade offers for Derrick Rose due to his injury history and extremely hefty price tag. They’re going to need to look at any offers very carefully but also extremely quickly before they’re taken off the table.

Luckily for the Bulls, the Dallas Mavericks are not in much of a position to be picky about a lot of things due to a small amount of cap space. The right moves could be made for a Rose-to-Dallas trade to make sense for both teams during the offseason and regular season.

The Chicago Tribune believes that trading away either Jimmy Butler or Derrick Rose has become a top priority for the Bulls this offseason. A working relationship between the two players is just not feasible any longer and it’s straining the team unit that the Bulls’ brass are trying to keep together and working as one.

The Dallas Mavericks have not had a good history with free agents, and that’s been proven with Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, and especially DeAndre Jordan. This year’s NBA free agency cold very well be different, but the Mavs may find the trade market as much more valuable and beneficial to them. Pulling off a trade with the Chicago Bulls, where they swap Derrick Rose and Devin Harris, could seriously work out better for both teams.
