WWE News: Former TNA Knockout Velvet Sky Talks About Possibly Joining The WWE

It seems as of late that WWE has gone after every single major free agent in the world. The reason for this is pretty simple and it comes down to two words: brand split. The fact is that with this split comes two different rosters with a need for major names to be on all shows. It is expected that WWE NXT will be slightly affected as the WWE plans to bring up a good bit of NXT stars to help out on WWE RAW and WWE SmackDown.

Some may be involved in the draft, as they will come up soon. Meanwhile, others are expected to be on NXT for a little while longer and could debut after the WWE Draft takes place in the middle of July. The main issue for NXT comes down to the ladies. With three of the four horsewomen already on the main roster, WWE has improved their women’s division greatly. The problem is that others are worthy of moving up.

Bayley is set to come up sometime this fall, but replacing her star-power on NXT will not be easy. This is why WWE has been dragging out giving her a rematch for the NXT Women’s Title, as the thought is once she loses, there will be no reason to keep her on the show and off the main roster. WWE needs other women to come into the company, and it looks like there are some interested parties. One of the biggest goes by the name Velvet Sky.

It seems every time you turn around, Bubba Ray Dudley mentions that Velvet would be good for the WWE. The two are dating, and have been together for quite some time. They obviously met in TNA Wrestling, where Sky became well-known as a member of The Beautiful People with partner Angelina Love, another free agent these days. The two were known for having the highest rated segments on TNA each week. While Love was a great wrestler who won several TNA Knockout Titles, Velvet Sky was no slouch, either.

Velvet is a former Knockout Champion herself, having won the title twice. She’s even a former TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion. Most everyone in TNA typically felt that Velvet was one of the worst workers on the roster for quite some time. At a period when TNA had the best women’s wrestlers in the world, Velvet Sky was near the bottom of the rung to most, as she was unable to wrestle as well as others like Gail Kim, Awesome Kong, and even partners Angelina Love and Madison Rayne.

Finally she improved, and was even named to PWI’s Top 50 Female Wrestlers list in 2013. Most people feel she could be a great addition to the NXT roster as her fame would help her bring in a number of fans. While many think she can improve in the ring even still, there is a theory her fame will be enough for NXT alone. It seems that Velvet Sky herself is eager to join the WWE. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, she was asked about the possibility of joining the company. She would talk about working toward WWE her entire career, saying the following.

“That is why I sacrificed right from the beginning. That is why I left college, and the reason why I wrestled every weekend. The indie scene is not glitz and glamour, but a chance with the WWE is the reason I did this from the very beginning. I would totally embrace any opportunity with the WWE. I think I would do well there. The women there are killing it, and empowering and building up the women would be a great role for me. Bayley is so much fun to watch wrestle. She has so much energy and passion, and the people feel her energy and feed off that. She’s so great at expressing herself, and she’s so genuine.”

She would also talk about wanting to work with Natalya as well.

The biggest thing for Velvet Sky is that the WWE needs names. They need people who can come in and help the company in a major way, at least as far as notoriety. NXT will need that and the main roster will as well. Several former TNA stars have made their way to the WWE, so it would not be shocking to see Sky end up there eventually. There is a lot of interest on her part, and the WWE will surely have more of an interest when they know they have to bring Bayley up and have no one yet to replace her.
