‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Camilla Luddington Opens Up About Jo’s Storyline

It’s been a series of ups and downs for Jo and Alex on Grey’s Anatomy. After continually turning down Alex’s proposals – but confusingly telling him to keep the ring – Jo finally opened up to De Luca about her previous marriage.

While drunk, Jo explained that she had previously been married, but in an abusive relationship. She doesn’t want her husband to find where she is, so she changed her name and ran away. If she filed for divorce, it would mean he could find her, and that is certainly something that she doesn’t want to happen.

She has yet to tell Alex, and Camilla Luddington has admitted that the Grey’s Anatomy character may have little sympathy for her now. This is something that she should have told him from the start. While he couldn’t have done anything to change the situation, he would have been more understanding rather than hurt when she turned down the proposal. Luddington admitted that for Alex it will look like Jo doesn’t trust him with everything, and that will affect his view of her and their relationship going forward.

Jo believes she has done the right thing. In to her interview with Melty, Luddington explained that this is someone very dangerous, and she does not want him coming to hurt Alex. That could potentially happen if she filed for divorce and he found out where she is and why she is doing this now. There are others close to Jo who could be hurt in the crossfire.

Grey’s Anatomy will need to touch on this in Season 13, though. This is not a storyline that can just be pushed under the rug and forgotten about. It is a major storyline that could affect many current fans of the show. It may also bring new fans in, as they learn about Jo’s abusive husband and what she did to get away.

It is possible that Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 will have more time for Jo and Alex’s relationship. Sara Ramirez has left the show, meaning there will be no more Callie/Arizona drama. While there may be a new relationship for Arizona later, right now she needs to focus on Sophia. There are other characters to look at and new characters coming in, but fans will be interested to see how Jo and Alex work through this; if they can.

Grey’s fans are mixed when it comes to the storyline. Many can understand Jo’s decision to keep her past quiet. This is part of her life that she doesn’t want to think about anymore, and she wants to keep those around her safe. However, they can also see how hurt Alex will be when he learns that Jo didn’t trust him enough to tell him the truth.

Many fans realize that, while Jo is protecting herself, she is stopping Alex from being completely happy. She may not want to divorce her husband to keep people safe, but Alex has a right to know the full reason why.

There are now mixed opinions on how Grey’s Anatomy should deal with this. Many fans want to see Alex finally happy. He has never really had that, considering the way Izzy left him and his back-and-forth with Jo. Some fans think that he would be better off splitting from Jo and finding love with someone else. His problem is that he seems to have a thing for women with a lot of baggage.

It is possible that Grey’s Anatomy will focus on the abusive storyline a bit more, as Alex really does need to learn the truth. Time will tell whether that makes or breaks the couple, as well as whether her abusive husband will show up sometime in Grey’s Anatomy Season 13.
