‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7: Does Maggie Live Or Die? ‘TWD’ Comics May Hint Fate Of Lauren Cohan’s Character [Theory]

The Walking Dead Season 7 is currently filming, and there is a tight lid on spoilers. However, that doesn’t mean fans can’t speculate on what will happen when the zombie series returns to AMC. After Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) introduction in the season finale, everyone wants to know who had their brains bashed in by Lucille. Sometimes, but not always, the fate of a character can be determined by the TWD comic books. So, what happens to Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) in Robert Kirkman’s graphic novels? Does she live or die, and does she give birth?

Warning: Possible spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 7 may be ahead.

In the TWD comic books, there has been more than one pregnant woman. Lori Grimes and her unborn child died due to the Governor’s actions. On the TV show, Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) also passed away, but it was from childbirth complications. Surprisingly, her baby survived, a little girl named Judith Grimes.

In the TWD comics, Rosita’s relationship with Abraham was similar to the television series, right down to Michael Cudlitz’s character dumping Rosita (Christian Serratos) for another girl. In fact, the “last woman on Earth” line was used in both the graphic novels and on the TV screen. A few years later in the comics, Rosita ends up pregnant. However, both mother and child are killed.

As for Maggie Greene, she had a more successful pregnancy in The Walking Dead comic books. After Glenn gets killed by Negan, a war breaks out. It is Alexandria, the Hilltop Colony, and The Kingdom against Negan and the Saviors. According to ComicBook.com, Maggie Greene ends up delivering a healthy baby, whom she names Hershel, after her dead father.

Even though some TWD fans are skeptical of there being more than one baby in the group, Judith is getting older. Also, in the comic books, Maggie and Glenn became surrogate parents to Sophia, as Bustle pointed out.

Maggie has lost so many people already that it would be cruel to have her lose a baby. Her entire family is dead, and Glenn’s (Steven Yeun) fate is unknown. He could get killed by Negan like in the comics, or the TWD villain might pick a different character, as previously reported by The Inquisitr. If Glenn is killed by Negan, then Maggie will need something or someone to live for.

Last season on The Walking Dead, viewers were concerned when Maggie began having severe stomach cramps. Some wondered if she was having a miscarriage. There are theories that Maggie’s pain is actually from an illness or medical condition unrelated to her pregnancy. Gallstones, kidney stones, or food poisoning are some possibilities. Remember, Enid (Katelyn Nacon) gave Maggie pickles before the pain began. Food rationing was mentioned, which means someone may have left expired or bad pickles on the shelves, thinking nothing bad would happen. We didn’t see Maggie vomit after eating the pickles, as one would expect with food poisoning. However, not everyone throws up, and some just experience a lot of pain.

My prediction is that Maggie Greene is going to live in The Walking Dead Season 7. She has too big of a storyline in the TWD comic books. It would be a shame to get rid of Lauren Cohan’s character when there is still an interesting storyline for Maggie.

What do you think of Maggie Greene’s storyline in the TWD comic books? Will it mirror what happens to Lauren Cohan’s character in The Walking Dead Season 7? Do you think Maggie and her unborn child will live or die when the zombie series returns to AMC this fall?
