June 2016 Free Games For Xbox Live Gold Members

The new set of free games for Xbox Live Gold members has been revealed. The list of free games for June 2016 contains two Xbox One titles and another two for Xbox 360 owners.

Every month, Microsoft offers various free titles for Xbox Live Gold members via its Games with Gold program. This June, Games with Gold celebrates its third year anniversary with a special lineup of free Xbox games, according to Xbox Wire.

Check out the Twitter post from Larry Hryb, more commonly known as Xbox Live’s Major Nelson, about the free Xbox games coming this June.

Starting tomorrow, June 1, those with paid Xbox Live Gold subscriptions who are using Microsoft’s latest generation game console, Xbox One, will be able to get Goat Simulator for free. Originally priced at $9.99, Coffee Stain Studios’ third-person perspective action game “is the latest in goat simulation technology, bringing next-gen goat simulation,” as described on its official website. Goat Simulator, being one of Microsoft’s free games for Xbox Live Gold members, can be acquired at no cost at all during the entire month of June.

Also included in the roster of free games for June 2016 is The Crew. Usually available with a $29.99 price tag, it is scheduled to be free from June 16 to July 15 for Xbox One owners under Xbox Live Gold membership. According to its official Xbox Store page, The Crew, developed by Ivory Tower and published by Ubisoft, is a ground-breaking action-driving massively multiplayer online game.

The page further reads, “The Crew takes you and your friends on a wild ride across a massive, open-world recreation of the United States that is richly detailed and loaded with endless challenges. Generous in content and tailored for the connected generation, The Crew is the next-gen game that redefines action-driving.”

Meanwhile, Xbox 360 users with Gold subscriptions can get their own copy of Super Meat Boy commencing tomorrow until June 15. Typically worth $14.99, this platformer, which pays tribute to classics such as Super Mario Bros., is an independent game developed by Team Meat. Its gameplay basically involves running and jumping to complete the ultimate goal, which is to save Bandage Girl located in another castle, according to IGN.

Furthermore, XCOM Enemy Unknown, with an original price of $39.99, is also slated to be one of the free Xbox 360 games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Gamers can have it for no expense from June 16 until June 30. Released in 2012, XCOM Enemy Unknown is a turn-based tactical video game from Firaxis.

In this game, players take the role of the leader of XCOM, an elite paramilitary organization created to defend the Earth from an alien invasion, its Xbox Marketplace page reads. To do so, gamers need to form a fully functioning base, plan combat missions, research alien technologies, and control soldier movements in combat.

It should be noted that these free Xbox 360 games are Backward Compatibility, which means that both XCOM Enemy Unknown and Super Meat Boy can be played on Xbox One as well.

Another free title that Xbox Live Gold members can take advantage in the coming month is Costume Quest 2. Part of the list of May 2016 free games for Xbox One, this action and adventure video game from Double Fine Productions and Midnight City is available for free until June 15, as previously reported by the Inquisitr.

For Xbox Live Gold members to access these free games, players can go to the “Games” tab on Xbox 360 or “Store” tab on Xbox One. Also, the Games With Gold tile is usually present on the console’s Home screen, which will direct Xbox Live members to these free games, the Mirror reported. Another option is to head to the official Xbox website, log in, and head to the page for Games with Gold.

The Inquistr will keep you updated if news about these free Xbox games arises.
